I would offer him the minimum contract offer, and make it incentive laced... LIke make 6 INT get 60k, make 100 takels make another 50k..
I think he sucks at tackling and is an individual player. I know i know, he is hurt. THen dont play, then its not an excuse, i think he should be a "hawk" on ST..

There is no reason Goldson should get top 10 safety money, when he is not a top 10 safety, dont break the bank for him

I don't think there is any threat of that happening. The only thing is how little he will be paid, if he is offered a deal at all.

Actually CB's rely a lot on Safety help, especially if they're playing zone. But its not just about getting burnt in coverage, Goldson is more times than not late in coverage support. Some of that isn't his fault though, because I don't think hes a FS and Manusky shouldn't have put him there, IMO he lacks range as a deep Safety also. We needed a Safety who can play center-field and play on an island, IMO he proved he cannot do this.

Clemments doesn't suck...he's just not a cover cb. He's a good zone CB..which goes to Kolohe's point...he needs help on top. I think we'd be better suited having Clemments shift to FS and pick up a new CB than to pick up a new FS. This would better resolve the issues with Goldson who we could then let go into FA.
Goldson is the weak link on our D...even more than Parys. He can't cover well and he goes for the big hits...and then doesn't wrap.

looks like he's coming back. He didn't have the breakout year we wanted/expected but I thought overall he had a solid year. I think since he's a RFA no reason not to give him a new contract and see how he turns out. He's still young.
Four years of service (likely to be restricted free agents)
--S Dashon Goldson: He recorded just one interception and one sack but the coaching staff graded him out a lot higher than his stats would suggest. He's their best safety, and he should be back -- depending on the system in place

Just a hard hitter. I would be more comfortable with Reggie Smith. Goldson let too many big plays happen this season. Who knows maybe he needs experience, whatever it is, it was frustrating watching him play this year.

I hope Fangio realizes that Goldson is better suited for the strong safety spot. Ideal scenario for me: RFA tender Goldson, sign Champ Bailey in free agency as a CB/FS hybrid.
If Reggie Smith blossoms during training camp, then he can play the FS, and Bailey can start opposite of Spencer, and our first round pick at CB, Prince Amukamara.
CB: Spencer/Adams
CB: Amukamara/Brown
FS: Bailey/Smith
SS: Goldson/Mays
