Exactly what we need in our team cause Alexis Smith is not taking us no where. I hope we can trade for him. Vick at least has been in the playoffs and is better than Smith.

So I propose to my fellow Zoners... Should we make a play for Michael Vick? During the offseason, we could've easily picked him up for the 255th pick in the draft, now it's probably more like David Carr and a 4th rd pick.

Opinions? Thoughts? Flames?

1- Of course Vick looks to be faster and stronger, he had a full offseason to get into football shape plus took part in OTA's & minicamps, something he couldn't do the year prior.

2- Reid has been grooming Kolb to be the future of that team since 2007, so it came as no surprise that he was going to become the starter when McNabb was traded, did you actually think they might name Vick the starter ?

3- There is/was zero chance we could have gotten Vick for pick #255 considering we did not own the rights to said pick. Rumors circulated that Vick might have been able to be had but there is no proof in what the actual compensation would have been had he been available via trade.

4- And we don't need Vick nor do I want him. We would be bringing in a QB who has played in the WCO for his whole pro career, so bringing him would mean he would need to learn the digit system and develop chemistry with the talent we have. Which basically means there is little reason to believe he will be successful in the first half of this year.

We lost 1 game, albeit badly but all is not lost and the season is not over just yet. Last I checked there is still 15 weeks of 49er football ahead of us.

Actually I think you are correct, forgot about Reeves being Vick's HC for his first couple of years. Nonetheless, my opinion doesn't change on Vick. He would not lead us to a 9-10 win season.

We would be better off playing more of a spread style offense with Alex (which puts him in the best position to succeed).

I love Michael Vick's game. He would be able to play great in this offense IMO, but even if we were to trade for him this season, we'd be looking at a top 10 pick. Learning a whole new offense is tough and he'd also have to get the chemistry down with the receivers. There's also a 0% chance that happens, not only because it's too late, but Kolb is down and he's their insurance.
