49ers to meet w/ CB Will James

CB James to visit Monday

Free-agent cornerback Will James will visit the 49ers on Monday, according to his agent. James, 30, also has visited the Seahawks and Bears, and the Cardinals also are interested. James (6-0, 200) started 14 games last year for the Lions, finishing with 73 tackles, 14 pass defenses and two interceptions, one of which was returned 38 yards for a touchdown.

The 49ers took a cornerback -- Phillip Adams -- in the draft, but it wasn't until the seventh round. The team had three free-agent cornerbacks at the end of the 2009 season. One of them, Marcus Hudson, signed with the Panthers. Dre Bly and Walt Harris remain unsigned. The team also picked up Karl Paymah and Keith Smith.

Bly is so much better than this punk

Bly > James > Keith Smith

He had decent year last season. He was also a starter for 14 games so thats pretty good value there. I say, sign him for depth!!!

This is definately the position that needs some help..............Bly played well for us last year...........even though that showboat stunt after an interception has no place on our team..............an injury to Spencer or Clements or Brown would put us in trouble without some more quality depth

Is that the guy Crabtree completely turned around on the underthrown deep ball? The picture you posted looks like that play, since Crabtree bobbled it for a second.

Anyway, I agree. We really need to resign Bly.

Bly makes sence, even if he's more expensive

Familiar with our system and NFC west recievers

maybe there is attitude problem that Sing doesnt want to have in the locker room

It sems odd that a FA CB with experience, that played well last year goes untouched even after the draft
