Well I'm assuming we'd do a thorough health check. But then again how much can you trust our doctors (Jonas Jennings, Alex Smith and his shoulder )

True

yeah, but teams also don't want to have to keep paying a LT a bunch of money if they have another they can keep for less money.

I'm just saying there's "business reasons" for them to get rid of him, it might not have anything to do with his health or quality of play (though the injury is definitely a concern)

Not that I know of, however they have 3 OT's who are RFA's, Brown, Bushrod who played LT almost all season long and played quite well (he also happens to be 3 years younger than Brown) and Strief who played LT in a game or 2 last year as well. With Bushrod's development and the need to extend 3 OT's it has made Brown expendable now however there was talk the last couple years of possibly trading Brown.

Saints need a 4-3 OLB, and Niners need an OT

Lawson for Brown? hmmm...

Both players have missed OTA's, and neither is the type to do that.
Unless of course they have been told they may be traded and excused them from OTA's

Wouldn't be bad

I'd be cool with that grab Dez Bryant at 17 and BPA at 32

Exactly

Two first round receivers? That'd be a no, thank you.
Trading Lawson is crazy. Trading one of our #13 and getting Bryant is even more so
grab some talent through the draft to fill the major holes we have.

Who's Jammal Brown?

Former #1 pick of the Saints in 2005 out of Oklahoma and 2 time Pro Bowler. Got injured about a year ago and was replaced by Jermon Bushrod during the Saints Super Bowl run. If healthy, he would much better than a rookie or Jared Gaither.

Co-signed .... this kid also has a mean streak which neither Glassman or the Human Turnstile possessed. Brown could play either OT spot.

Again, ONLY if healthy.

It would for the Saints.

Teams give up pro bowl players when they have another player at the same position who proves to be capable of playing as well or better than the first guy. It's the same reason the Ravens are willing to trade Gaither (because Oher is their future at LT).
Missed all of 2009 season with hip and sports hernia surgery.

Previously very durable: starting 13 games in rookie year of 2005, starting 15 games each in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

6'6", 313 lbs, RFA, who just turned age 29 on March 30.

Has NOT yet signed NO 1-year tender offer of $3+M for 2010.

Has not attended NO OTA's upon recommendation of agent Ben Dogra.

Has attended NO OTA's in all past years.

When healthy, a very high-caliber LT.

Is he healthy? Send him to Stanford Hospital for day with the docs.

Deadline for external RFA offer has passed, so Brown could only be acquired by trade at this point. He would also need to sign his tender, in order to be traded.

Given the out-of-the-blue decsiveness of the Niner front office regarding Ted Ginn, it's probably a good thing to keep an eye on any developments involving Jammal Brown (such as signing his tender).
