Herm must have been under the influence.
Both Marshall and McNabb are going to be looking for huge bank $$$$$.
Marshall is a bad egg that beats his girlfriends.
As for McNabb, I am not convinced at all that he would do significantly better than Alex next season. I think Alex's best football is ahead of him and McNabbs is behind him.
I say keep our draft picks and Herm STFU..

OK Herm, Call Jed and convince him We need McNabb first. Sounds good!! Investing another year in the Smither in no way gets me excited to watch Niner football. Of course I will, regardless, but I can already see how the season pans out with Smith.

Could you guys imagine this team with Marshall, Crabtree, VD, Gore, McNabb and an already solid defense. I know Marshall has had his off field issues but we would have the best WR tandem and core in the league IMHO.
Gore would have all day to run because McNabb opens up another level to the passing game. I the stars aligned and this happened I think the 49ers could challenge for the NFC crown.
Go Niners!!

Wow, and this coming from a guy who could barely lead a team over the 'hump' in the playoffs due to his own ethical/philosophical mistakes in personnel management/off-season upgrades, and acquisitions. (Trading Jared Allen away under the Chiefs, bad draft-day trades based upon his own doing, and numerous tampering charges/accusations under his Jets tenor.)

I'm sure we're going to be better off with Alex Smith and Josh Morgan. What is wrong with the Zone nowadays.
McNabb, Marshall, and right tackle would be a dream offseason for everybody except the guy paying out the bankroll.

Per Adam Schefter:
Chance that 49ers will listen to Herm Edwards and trade for Donovan McNabb and Brandon Marshall: in the words of one source, "0 percent."

Of course this is 100% true. But that's a reflection on the ineptitude of Niners and their front office. Making any kind of a bold move is absolutely beyond them. I would welcome some creative action on their part. Anything.
What Edwards suggests is certainly a bold move. But all it does is draw some school yard style insults from some posters who are OBVIOUSLY that much better than Edwards at evaluating what's needed.
It would be retarded to think that we could do better with a 2nd round pick than acquire McNabb (if we could). Someone would actually dispute that Mcnabb would be a HUGE upgrade at the QB position than anything we've had over the last eight years? Granted, he's not the second coming of Joe Montana, and I would not see him as a long term solution. But he gets us into the playoffs for the next couple of years . . . guaranteed . . . irrespective of the ineptitude of the coaching or game planning. Also gives the team time to groom a replacement.
Brandon Marshall is a PROVEN game changer. He's easily worth a first rounder. People on this board are always extolling the virtues of Singletary and his ability to handle players. I believe that with McNabb on board and Singletary supervising, Marshall will be plenty satisfied. Someone has actually suggested that we cannot AFFORD more big money game-changers.
If this is indeed how the front office thinks, you can forget the Niners EVER returning to their glory days.Yea . . . it would be a ballsy move for sure. A legitimate suggestion. But let's not give it another thought, because, after all, the path that we've been on for the last eight years has proved out soooooo much better!
