Maybe he could be the next bart oates??
Move Heitmann to Guard and Mawae to Center ...Sorta like when Sapulo moved to guard and let Oates play center in 94

I am convinced he is the draft version of Aslan

Well said.
Also, I have more than enough faith in Heitman to do the job.

with Heitmann out now and Baas sucking at C we need to sign this guy. The fact that he hasn't been signed yet I bet we could get him for real cheap.

I agree. Also, brings in some veteran o-line leadership for Davis and Iupati to feed off of.

If the price is right
Only worry I have is what if he turns into this year's "Marvel Smith" and we have only Baas and Wragge with hardly any reps with Smith to begin the year

All of a sudden, this doesn't seem like such a crazy idea, he could help our O-Line. But I think Coach Sing is going to give Baas at least a chance to keep the job, we could know something after Sunday.

I can't think of a better situation to sign an aging veteran for one year. Baas, Chilo and lupati are concerns for the beginning of the season as they sit on the depth chart for the beginning of the season.
Mawae moves baas back to the position he played last year giving competition to lupati for starting role and or maybe even rachal's position. When Heitman comes back healthy, mawae moves back to the bench with whoever playing at guard staying put. With Balmer's unnecessary roster spot, nobody has to be cut to sign mawae.

we must be confident in Baas to get it done in the short term b4 Heitman returns. Since Scotty Mac has left I love what Baalke's done, signing Westbrook when Coffee screwed us shows he jumps on an opportunity if it's there. We must not be high on Mawae or we think we're good w/Baas.

Yes Mawae would be an awesome 1 year solution! wait and see how good Chris Johnson is this year without him anchoring that line. Heitman is not fine, he is out 4 to 6 games not counting if he even recovers correctly.

He should be cleared for week 2-3

that hasn't been solidified yet. I just hope Baas doesn't get hurt at this point he has looked decent thus far. Hurry back Heitman best case scenerio IMO is EH comes back to C and we start having Baas practice at RG and put some pressure on Rachal who has looked like our weakest OL thus far.
