i dont think it has anything to do with Smith, i think it tolls the bell for Shaun Hill. Hill is clearly not getting the job back, and hes getting older. i think Carr is more talented, and has more starting experience as a backup.
it creates competition to prevent Smith from getting comfortable with nobody to lose the job to, and it gives us a more viable option to start if Smith gets hurt.
I completely agree with you. Honestly, Hill was like an accidental experiment. He was never seen as anything more then a camp arm in the beginning, but then fate had it that he was able to get an opportunity when injuries struck our QB's. Much respect to the fact that he shined a little when he was given that chance, but I believe now the Niners are just moving on and trying to just improve. Carr gives them another decent arm and a little more security behind Alex, without limiting our offense in ways that Hill possibly did. At the same time, Carr gives enough pressure to Alex without really creating a competition. It makes a lot of sense and it doesn't look good for Hill.

But Shaun knows the offense...this is a dumb move should this happen....
If anything through free agency then it go to the O-line.
So you just keep a guy cause he knows your playbook? Regardless if he has any potential to grow or improve your team? If that is the case, then we should just keep everyone on our team and not let anyone go because they all know the playbook.

Is mcSing just sitting around watching all the FA moves unfold? Or are they actually on the f**king phone?
The fact that a crappy QB is the only one scheduled for a visit and no o-linemen are scheduled kinda pisses me off.

He is going up to Seattle tomorrow to talk with the Seahawks. Probably to check him out and work out a contract.

if he's asking for near that amount, should the niners target Dan Williams in the draft and let Franklin walk next year?
