There's no hate. You can have too many RT if none of them can start (which is why Jacksonville cut him). The draft pick will def replace Pashos. Sims can play some RT in a pinch and LT well. Pashos can't play LT at all and only marginally better than Simms at the position. Pashos>Simms>Snyder at RT but not by much - which is why we're drafting a RT.
What draft pick are u talking about that's going to come in and replace him? The same RT that we have drafted the past 5 years to come in and hold down that spot??? The fact is that nobody knows who the niners are going to draft come april. We all think the niners are going to make the "obvious" choice (RT, pass rusher) but it never pans out that way. I would rather resign Pashos and worst case scenerio, him, snyder, simms, and the hopeful draft pick battle it out and then cut ties with the weakest link. You can NOT have too many anything in training camp (the time to compete) when it comes to a position of need.
Okay this doesn't make sense because we haven't been trying to draft a RT for the past 5 years in the 1st round. "It never pans out that way" doesn't mean anything. You can never have too many many anything in training camp? That's a ludicrous statement - case in point - WRs. Someone isn't going to get on the field with the starters and if there's ONE group who needs to play as a unit and gel as soon as possible it's the OL. No, I don't know for 100% the 49ers are going to draft a RT, but I'm not going to sign someone who's a hair better than Snyder for MORE money just to cut him IF I draft a RT. This would mean Scott has no plan. If he has no plan then he shouldn't be a GM. You don't sign a player because you don't know "what you're going to do."
RT has been a need on this team since we made the mistake of drafting Kwame Harris, signing a broke Jonas Jennings, and an old Marvel Smith who turned around and retired on us. You want competition in training camp and Snyder is NOT a tackle. He has value because he can "play" the T and G spots but all niner fans know he is best suited for G. Therefore that leaves us with staley. We need to bring back Simms AND Pashos as well as drafting a RT. Staley is a lock and we are not rebuilding which means the RT that we HOPEFULLY draft early might not perform better early on than Simms or Pashos. We are on the verge of a playoff push so we need to put our best players on the field. IF that turns out to be a rookie than I'm happy, if not without Pashos, we are talking about Simms holding down that right side which he has struggled with. Pashos has proved to be a good starter until the Jags wanted to get younger AND until he came to san fran and struggled ALONG WITH EVERYONE ELSE on the Oline. I would say that reflects more on the coach then his talent

LOL - you're regurgitating my own posts from previous threads!!! ROFL Tell me when has Pashos proven he's a good starter in San Fran? What games? When? Jonas Jennings wasn't a RT ROFL, he was signed as a LT. Siiiiiigh. There are other options in FA who can play both spots. Pashos is a RT ONLY.
Bottom line - we're not going to sign a bench player for the OL who can only play one position. Book it.
Ok well im too lazy to look at your old post from previous threads but Pashos was not that bad. He didn't prove to be a good starter IN SAN FRAN but the whole line struggled last season which I would say is a reflection on the coaching staff, NOT Pashos. If we resign Simms, that means we would have 1 decent back up tackle. Pashos is a RT, Simms played better on the left side which leaves the right side vacant. Snyder is no where close to being a decent tackle so why not let Pashos get healthy and compete with a HOPEFULL rookie at the RT spot??? Who else would u rather bring in?????

UPDATE: Not so fast: Pashos left Washington without a deal and will visit Cleveland before signing anywhere.

Have we offered anything before Pashos started traveling the country. Damn, I dont feel good about any offers if he's going to see the Browns.
He is a pretty good player, better against the pass, IMO but can the Niners make a move?
There shouldnt be anybody over in Ninertalk because there is nothing going on in Ninerland.
Think this is just a $$ issue for him ... Last chance to cash in (age is closing in) .... Wont cash in here with the tight managment!!
