Earl Thomas or Morgan Burnett, which ever one declares. I rather over pay for Julius Peppers or Vince Wilfork.

I figure Eric Berry is waaaaay out of reach so I'll ride the Earl Thomas and Morgan Burnett bandwagon until they decide to stay in school.

I think the 49ers are going to sign UFA OJ ATogwe to a long term deal this offseason to come in and play FS for the next five years. With the development of Goldson and the expected move of Clements to saftey, this move might not be the most pressing need. However back around the trade deadline it was rumored that the 49ers were interested in trading for the franchised player but they declined not to. Very similar to what they were doing with Justin Smith and Lance Briggs.

I think the tampering charges and the deal Chicago put forth kept the 49ers from aquiring Briggs, but it is clear that the 49ers would like to take Atogwe away from the division rival Rams and they appeared willing to wait until the offseason when Atogwe will be an unrestricted free agent.

Perhaps more importantly Atogwe is currently dating Singletary's daughter with rumors of engagement. They both met in college and Singletary has a keen relationship with him. All these signs point to the 49ers making a big push for the Pro Bowl safety this winter. My guess is the 49ers would be willing to let Goldson take over at SS, essentially moving Lewis and the 49ers will keep Clements at CB for the next few years.

i forgot about him. how has he played this season, he could be a candidate if he has played as well as last season
Very few people would want to work for their "future father-in-law", unless he owns a very lucrative business.

That type of behavior is usually associated with gold diggers like the former owner of the Rams (RIP) who just wanted to cavort with aging QBs like Joe Namath.
Well he won't have six accrued seasons after this year so if there's no new CBA, he won't be a UFA, he'll be an RFA.
he could sway our direction with his ties with sing, it is very possible.

Damn. Uncapped year is going to screw up free agency
he is on ir
Have you guys taken a look at the official NFL website? The have a mock of us picking Eric Berry at #13 and Joe Haden at #16. That seems to me that those are pretty good picks in draft. I know we need a OT and a OG, but we could use upgrade on secondary for sure and possibly look at free agency to address those needs. What do you guys think about that

90 tackles, 4 INTs, 3 FF, 6 PDs...sounds like a very solid year for Goldson.

It would be nice to see if we can find a FS in the draft in the 2nd or 3rd rounds to develop AFTER Goldson makes a switch to SS (once Lewis is gone).

But for right now, Goldson is the man in 2010 at the position.

I don't think there wanting to replace him. i think we all agree he's a better ss, and that M. lewis/mark roman combo is what needs to be replaced. It be nice to see, Goldson Lewis and a free agent rotate around in the secondary. I rather just see Reggie smith get more playing time.
