They were called dirty because McKittrick taught them to "hook" block larger, slower defensive linemen. The technique was legal and very effective. The big boys hated the hook block because they liked to stand up and push and shove. In the hook, the OL "hooked" his body around the defenders thighs and took him down. Defenders kept their hands down to fight off the block which allowed Montana to have clear passing lanes for all the short slants that Solomon and later Rice turned into huge gains.Originally posted by strickac:Originally posted by tmg808:Originally posted by btwagner:
Should the niners have any interest in him? Personally I like **sholes on the OLine. Any one know if there is a waiver process with him or is he a FA
He has been considered the dirties player in the league by NFL players. He has had problems in college and in the NFL. He was cut conduct reasons on the Rams. Rams may suck but Steven Jackson is second in the NFL in rushing. He is a very physical guard. I wouldn't mind if i seen him on the roster at all
That's exactly why I don't want him. Our team is respected because of our toughness. We don't need the dirtiest player in the NFL on our team. He hurts our image and that's something we need to protect, especially if we want to be an attractive team for free agents.
He's not good enough to risk losing credibility over.
49ers in the 80s were known as one of the Dirtiest line in the league. The lines job is to do the dirty work. He needs to be smarter about it, but its tells me that he is going to grind, work hard, and he is looking to smash into somebody.
No to Incognito. You don't want to get a rep for being dirty because then the other team will hurt your guys in return. Not a good idea.
i am sorry, but i want a mean nasty don't give a f**k about you G on my team. we had kevin gogan, larry allen, and others. and i want one at DT as well.
