These thoughts:
1. Owens now realizes Buffalo is a dead end so he is starting the wheels turning to go someplace that has a better future than Buffalo, and MIGHT think they need him. Owens politics.
2. Crabtree, Morgan, Hill, maybe Jones, perhaps Ziegler, are the future. Owens for a year or two only delays their development.
3. Owens still has that selfish demeanor on the bench. He has been a cancer everywhere he has been. None of the top teams will want him so he is already thinking of the 49ers are second tier.
4. There aren't enough dropped balls to share with another guy.
5. The fact he is dropping this "hint" at this time, with games still to be played in Buffalo, proves he is still the same selfish guy. One can only wonder what his teammates think of his comments.
No way I want this guy back here. He has spread disease every place he has been. It is his fault he has never gotten the ring he so desparately wants. After the 49ers, he sabotaged the Eagles, then the Cowboys, now Buffalo deal isn't working so he is looking around again. Does anybody truly see any change in this guy's character? I don't.

Sabotaged the Cowboys? Come on now, that's a huge stretch.

Hell yes I would take him back. Morgan's a 3rd reciever at best right now, he still has a lot to learn about the position, TO would give us another explosive playmaker right now. He's another good blocking WR. We wouldn't have to worry about a draft pick like Dez Bryant or another FA to be the 2nd WR. Morgan can stay as the returner(we need to see if he can return punts now at the end of the season), and we don't have to draft a kick returner either. So we can focus mainly OLine and D. If we added TO and Stephen Neal our offense would be ridiculous. Then we can draft Berry/Thomas/Haden and Brandon Graham or an OLineman, dominate in the trenches, and throw it around to our play makers outside. I know everyone's leary of him because how it ended with the guy but he can still ball and he has a better attitude and we could use an experienced play maker on the outside. You think TO would've ducked that ball in Seattle? HELL NO.

I think TO is starting to realize that his time as an allpro WR is coming to an end. For whatever he was like in Philly and Dallas, he sure seems humble and quiet in Buffalo.
Crabtree still needs another year or so to "break out" as a dominant receiver. What better way to take the pressure off his back than to get TO in here. Not only will the media totally divert its focus to TO (thus leaving Crabs to develop his game), but Im sure TO can pass on some of the tricks of the trade that he learned from Rice and Co. on to Crabtree.
I still think TO can play at a high level, and unlike Moss...he's a solid slot receiver that can produce YACs. I say we sign him, play him opposite Crabtree......and mopve Morgan to the number 3 spot. Get Bush in here as well, and IF Smith can live up to all this hype.......you may see an offensive explosion by the 2010 49ers.
Just something to think about...........

Free Agency signings since TO left (In no particular order):
Johnny Morton
Curtis Conway
Ashley Lelie
Antonio Bryant
Taylor Jacobs
Darrell Jackson
Isaac Bruce
Brandon Jones

Give TO a chance, and if he gets too out of line Singletary will know what to do

Hell No! TO around Vernon and Crabtree is a recipe for disaster.

Singletary has kept Davis and Brooks in line thus far. Plus TO seems to have calmed down a lot. I say bring him in

and I think it will help Davis and Crabs with the experiences T.O. has had with the Media.... he knows how is words and opinions can be twisted around....as well as how is words can be viewed by teammates and fans....
he has shown maturity from examples early in the year, when the media was trying to bait him, asking about the Bill's struggles....and T.O. handled it well...
he is a perfect example for the likes of Davis and Crabs of players who are like T.O....of not how to act early in their careers, as far as dealing with the media....
but as a football player....hopefully he can show Vernon, how to be a tough big receiver who shoves DBs around and make big game changing YAC (Davis needs this, he tries to juke too many people)....and also to show Crabs how to improve his football speed, like T.O. seemed to have done early in his NFL career....
back to Vernon... what T.O. seemed to have did early in his career is just strong arm DBs and put fear into them that in his prime he would do alittle juke, and DBs would be so worried about tackling him the right way that they would get shook....... perfect example of these was a play against the Broncos where he did one little fake move on Champ Baily, of all people, and Baily didn't even touch him and T.O. had a 70yard plus TD off a quick pass....because Baily was playing so far off him....
Vernon needs to bully people around and not jump so much for some of his passes...catch them in stride and just catch defenders off balance and just shove them and keep running.......then he can mix in some juke moves eventually.
