Only if he signed for less then a million.

I've been a Bush supporter since he came into the league but its incredible that he can't succeed in a wide open offense like the Saints have. I'm beginning to think he is nothing more then a glorified 3rd down back.

I was watching the Saints play the other day and he had a 20 something yard run and they said that was his career long!!! Wow... Being only an hour away from New Orleans, I can tell you that all the Saints fans can careless about Reggie.

Your stat is simply wrong. he had a 55 yarder this year vs the Rams and had a 43 yarder the year before.

Reggie Bush is not your typical RB -- he's special. The guy had 200 catches in his first 34 games...that's insane and an NFL record (actually tied w/ Boldin, a WR!). He's also deadly in the PR/KR game.

In 2008, Bush has 9 TDs in 9 games. For his career, bush has 30 TDs in 47 games, only 33 starts. For his career Bush has scored a TD every 23 times he has touched the ball, including returns. By comparison, Ten's Chris Johnson scores every 27 times he touches the ball, Peterson every 26 times, Gore every 36 times, MJD every 20 times (15 on rushes, 18 on offense), and LT every 16 times.

These are ridiculous numbers to contemplate, since Bush rarely gets the ball on goalline plays.

Bush would be a great fit for a spread offense, eluding defenders on draw plays.

I stand corrected.

Nope that was Joseph Addai and they said his season long was 20 something yards

I thought Bush was nothing special either.... Until I saw this. I don't know how to put a quote inside a quote but this is nickbradley from the first page of this thread:

decent return man that will occasionally leap into the endzone for a espn highlight

Sure, but is that worth the amount of money Bush would want? Is he worth 4M a year, because that's a 50% pay cut from what he's owed. NO would MAYBE pay him that, so we'd have to come in higher. Not worth it for a poor man's Dave Megget.

This. Bush is just a plain playmaker. He can line up at RB (backup to Gore which is a position of desperation), WR (slot receiver), and special teams. One of the biggest reasons I'm on the bandwagon is because he brings speed. It's sad when the fastest player on your offense is your TE and it's not even close.

Again, in that offense with Brees, everyone is a playmaker. I don't think Bush is all that special at all, he's a 3rd down back that can also return and is a feast or famine player. You can get those guys later in the draft (see D. Sproles) In our offense, he'd be running between the tackles. How many outside runs did we run last year? Screens? Anything remotely creative? And to reiterate the only way he leaves NO is because of money and he's not worth what he will want.

This would be a great pick up, we need that speed back, and I'm sure we can get him for 1.5-2mil a year.

This would be very nice!
yeah i think the saints would try to trade him, i can't see them letting him go that easily

I'd sign him. Then I don't have to read a thousand mocks giving us Spiller in the first round.

Pointing out the obvious, but for the right price he's worth it.

Not that I care about how much the 49ers spend, but if the "price is right," I'd sign him b/c the things you outlined (3rd down back, PR/KR, slot WR) are what we need. I also think his ability to run between the tackles is underrated. He did a good job of running inside at times this year including in the game vs. the Cards.
