He probably has no interest in coming here imo. He might wanna go to another winner or would probably just finish his career in NE. Its cheaper for the 49ers to just resign franklin and call it a day.

Well he wanted us to draft him. He made a pretty big statement by showing up to a pro-day workout wearing a 49ers shirt!

Yup I remember seeing that picture, and I think he said that he and his parents were 49er fans also and would've loved to see him in a 9ers uni.

I think the Pats will look to lock him up longterm, thus why they parted ways with Seymour. If he hits the open market we need to pony up the dollars and cents. Wilfork > Franklin.

Right now the Pats and Wilfork are unable to come close to an agreement. But IMO, I think if the Pats cannot get anything done with Wilfork, they will franchise Logan Mankins. I think protecting the QB is a lot more important to the Pats then a NT, who have kind of hinted that when they drafted Ron Brace and Myron Pryor. Shoot, even if the Pats decided to franchise Wilfork, our #1 priority should then turn to Mankins (if he hits the open market).

I think they'll let him walk. They just drafted Brace in the 2nd and they have Mike Wright, who's played well when Wilfork's place.
Also, with Franklin looking like he'll test the market and get paid as well. I wouldn't be surprised if we negotiate will both of these guys and ultimately sign whoever we can get for a more reasonable contract.

What worries me is Scott franchising Franklin, which has been pretty much made public. IMO, if I were Scotty Mac, I wouldn't franchise Franklin, I'd rather take my chances in free agency and the draft if we fail in free agency. Only up till now, Franklin has been playing his ass off, and what better year to do it in your contract year. I'd rather pony up the dollars to get a much more consistent NT in Casey Hampton or Vince Wilfork.

Sorry but I can't bear the idea of them playing 3-4 again without a NT. Well, one who could play. Anything to avoid returning to that place. Franklin, Wilfork, Wolfork, whoever, don't care.

Me neither, but the 2010 off-season is looking like a good time to make a big splash in the market, since we didn't do it last year.

one big thhing, there arent many guys to give big deals too, most will be tagged, thus leaving the bottom of the barel players left, and we better not overspend on them.

We can tag Franklin, come to terms with Wilfork, and release Franklin without any penalty.
Regardless, we will tag Franklin.

There is a good chance they let him go...they don't overpay Dlineman...otherwise they would have kept Seymore one of the best in the league.

Guys another thing don't you guys remember NE drafted 2 D-linemen on the 2nd round on the last draft. They are the possible replacement for Seymour and Wilfork + they got Oakland's 1st round pick.

I'd feel more secure locking up Wilfork than Franklin just because of the consistency at the position I really worry about Franklin becoming a 1 hit wonder....
