yeah the class is pretty garbage, kinda depressing in a way. I just hope if we go the free agent route at all we try to target a return man and a solid back up to Gore (I'm not really sold at all on Coffee). Lets draft some lineman on both sides too. Sad list, an uncapped year actually sounds good to me
Now, what i mean by our own, i mean the obvious ones.

DT Aubrayo Franklin(UFA)- Possible Franchised/Transitioned Player
OT Barry Sims(UFA)
OG David Baas(RFA)

and of course extend our own;

IILB Patrick Willis
DE Ray McDonald
RB Frank Gore
TE Vernon Davis
OLB Manny Lawson
FS Dashon Goldson

We already extended Gore a season or two ago.

A breakdown of the 2010 FA class, i think we would be better off re-signing our own and drafting players, instead of throwing big money at anyone of the 2010 class.

Merriman is overrated, injury prone.
Campbell and Orton would be RFA's and will get tendered high, so no go on them.
T.O. isnt coming back, not worth it, he drops too many balls.

the only ones worth the money are the DL.

Peppers, Ogunleye, Seymour, Wilfork, Hampton, Wiklerson.

other than that, JUST SAY NO.

Discuss......

the best part about the DL. except for ogunleye, they are all capable of playing the 3-4 or the 4-3(especially our 1 gap)

i would love to get any 2 of them(cept wilfork and hampton together)

peppersand ogunleye, move smith inside with ray mc and sopoaga, and all 5 rotating with haralson

peppers/ogunleye and seymour. with ray MC and smith. all 4 being able to line up anywhere on the line

they are a little oldbut give them up front money similar to nate's contract.
We aren't gonna outbid Jerry Jones or Dan Snyder if we do have a uncapped year. I would try to add O-line help but other than that, I would stand pat.

Vince Wilfork would be ideal but its unrealistic that he hits the open market.
You want to retain Baas?
First would look for O-Line help and signing our own FA, Then I'd take a look at Willie Parker, Roscoe Parrish and Shawn Merriman

Idk about Parker and Merriman, both have issues with injuries and Parker isnt getting any younger.

Idk about Parrish, he would be a nice RS, not sure he would see time at WR.

Parker speed change of pace running back, Merriman we need some type of pass rush, Parrish playmaker in the return game just needs a new fresh start with another team.

I have no problem with Parker if he isnt getting 15 touches a game, and Parrish would be a nice dyanmic guy.

But no to Merriman, injury prone IMO, he cant stay healthy.

True but for the right price why not?
That situation will exist if the NFL goes uncapped right? Not many superstar players but plenty of old vets who could sign cheap two year deals. The type of vets that could keep the seat warm while the draft picks a groomed.

Some possible targets:

WR
Arnaz Battle - possible resign (not likely)
Chris Chambers - take over the Issac Bruce role of savy veteran

OT
Tony Pashos - possible resign.
Barry Sims - possible resign.
Levi Jones - maybe finally healthy. Like Pashos will compete with a rookie/Snyder for the RT spot.

OG
Eugene Amano - opens holes for Chris Johnson and Lendale White. Should be an upgrade over Baas.
David Baas - will be a RFA. Don't see another team forking over a draft pick for him.

NT
Aubrayo Franklin - McCloughan pay this man! He is really the third best NT behind Wilfork and Hampton. If Aubrayo gets low balled by Paragge, expect him to end up in Denver or San Diego.
Vince Wilfork - Will some team fork over Haynesworth money for a NT? Maybe that's why New England has not resigned him yet.

LB
Larry Foote - could be a candidate for "Ted" linebacker if Spikes is done. Has experience in 3-4 from his time in Pittsburgh.
Angelo Crowell - boom or bust signing. Being on IR the last two years means he's cheap. Oddly he took Takeo Spikes starting job in Buffalo.
Ahmad Brooks - possible resign. Third down pass rush specialist.
Matt Wilhelm - possible resign. Solid backup ILB.

CB
Roderick Hood - solid replacement for Dre Bly and Walt Harris at nickle.
Ken Lucas - replacement for Dre Bly as the nickle.

Baas would be a RFA. Don't see any team willing to match a high tender offer. Maybe he could retained for a low tender.

exactly, plus if he gets the low tender, and is signed, we get a 2nd since he was a 2nd rd pick, so a win win situation
