Cuts/Pickups

I would be interested in seeing us pickup any of the following cats who got cut today: SS Bernard Pollard (hard hitter who could puch Roman out and be an insurance policy for MLewis) TE Kory Sperry (I know we probably only look at blocking TE's, but this dude seemed pretty damn beasty against us) PLayers of intrigue to me: Tim Crowder (DE, Den) , Marcus Howard (DE, Ind), Tony Pashos (OT< jax)

Does anyone know anything about Tony Pashos OT from Jax? He was cut, was a starter and is only 29.

Sure he could! The JAGS just cut him. If any team has had a worse O-line than the 9ers in recent years, it'd be those guys.

As much as I'd like to see him back with the 49ers, he will have had no practice time with any of our receivers. I'm sure he could pick up the offense, but with young receivers, they need as much chemistry with their starting QB as possible.

I'd love to see us bring him in, but he'd end up being a backup or third string QB that would have to work their way up. We don't have the roster space for him.

And they just drafted the best OT of the draft and another very good one in the second.

Can Alex Smith (TE) block? I know he's a good receiver, if he can block he'd be worth looking at as a third TE...and CUT SIMS!

I think since we're 1 short at both TE and FB, why not get a guy that can do both(a two-in-one player).. We had a guy named Sean Ryan(now with the Chiefs) who'd be perfect for us now as he lined up at both spots for us before... Tony Curtis was released(and we did look at him b4 the draft), I say bring him in as a blcking TE/FB/H-back type guy who will fill 3 positions, as 1 guy.
