Didn't see it in this thread, forgive me if I missed it.
How big of a hit are we looking at if we cut Smith altogether?

I believe it's like 5 or 6 Mill to cut him, and 9 mil to keep him without resigning.

The Rams are doing wonders with their 8 million. Tagged Atogwe, signed J. Brown and resigned Bartell.

2009 Cap Numbers for 49ers have been updated, ive made some guesstimates, on Jones, Norris and Spikes, i havent even tried to guess Rossum or Huard contracts.
As of now before Huard or Rossum, we have roughly 28M in cap room, but that could change of course.
NOTE: I know for a fact that Brandon Jones' Base Salary in 09 is $620K.

ok guys, after calculating everyones numbers for 2011 and beyond, for 2011 current salaries count up to 2.444 Billion.
Clayton reported a potential 120M cap, and 500M avaliable Cap Space for the league, if you take the average which is 92M, times 32, plus the 500M. You get about 2.9 Billion
So im off by about 42M. Which Im not 100% sure if it is escalators that I havent found out about, or if dead money counts. Some contracts I have are incomplete, but i feel good on 95% off all salaries.
link for the salary cap worksheet is, http://www.draftwatchers.com/backups/nflsalaries.xls

BLUF-(Bottom line up front) How much current room do we have before we sign anyone. How much room are we likely to have assuming we sign A Smith 2 years, D Baas to a 5 year deal, and get Nate C. to restructure? I'm a little hazy but I think the reason the front office is tepid about free agency is we probably can't afford to go after a top corner.
