Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports San Francisco 49ers OG Justin Smiley left practice Tuesday, June 19, to deal with a personal matter. He is expected to miss the remaining two practices of OTAs.

DL Ronald Fields (elbow) injured his elbow in practice Tuesday, June 19. The injury is not expected to be serious.

Ziggy Ansah leaves workout with 49ers without a contract, per report

Defensive end Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah worked out for the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, but left the team's facility in Santa Clara without a contract, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The NFL insider noted that the two sides were unable to agree on a deal. The #49ers visit with free agent pass-rusher Ziggy Ansah is over, source said. 49ers-Cardinals: Kyle Shanahan hopes Deebo Samuel can practice on Friday; he and Brandon Aiyuk remain game-day decisions

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan joined KNBR on Friday morning and shared some injury updates. All eyes during practices this week have been on the statuses of wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk. Aiyuk (hamstring) got back on the practice field on Thursday, but Samuel remained sidelined as he recovers from a Jones fracture in June. Shanahan was asked about Samuel's status for Sunday when the 49ers open the season by hosting the Arizona Cardinals at Levi's Stadium. "I haven't gotten an update from the trainers yet," Shanahan said on the Murph & Mac show, "but I'm really hoping they're going to get out and practice today. The San Francisco 49ers got one wide receiver back this week, as rookie Brandon Aiyuk returned to practice. It doesn't look like they will be as lucky with another injured wideout. Head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch were hopeful to have second-year receiver Deebo Samuel on the field with Aiyuk on Sunday.
