Anthony Davis guarantees he is returning to 49ers

Jan 3, 2016 at 10:55 PM--

On Sunday night, a fan asked former San Francisco 49ers tackle Anthony Davis if he would be returning to the team next season. Davis guaranteed that he would be.

Of course, he will be returning having never played for former head coach Jim Tomsula, who was fired following the 49ers season finale victory over the St. Louis Rams.

Prior to the start of the season, Davis had retired due to health concerns. He had said that he was going to take a year off due to concussion issues.

By David Bonilla

Vernon Davis remains the all-time leading receiver among San Francisco 49ers tight ends. His 5,640 receiving yards over his 10 NFL seasons with the team ranks sixth in 49ers history. Hot on his tail is current tight end George Kittle, who has amassed 4,489 receiving yards in five years. Kittle is likely just a couple of seasons away from surpassing Davis in the 49ers record books. Davis was at training camp in Santa Clara this past week and was asked about Kittle. Below is what one great 49ers tight end had to say about the other. "George Kittle is unbelievable," Davis told Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. "He's a wonderful talent. Every skill position, especially the tight end, they have different attributes. George Kittle, he has his ability to be able to

For rookies, though, preseason games can mean a lot. It's not just an opportunity to showcase yourself. It's a chance to get acclimated to what it's like playing in an NFL game. The 49ers open their three-game exhibition schedule on Friday against the Green Bay Packers. It's the only preseason game they will play at Levi's Stadium, and rookie running back Ty Davis-Price (prefers Ty versus Tyrion) can't wait. "I'm looking forward to it, most definitely," Davis-Price told reporters after Wednesday's practice. "First NFL game, I don't know what to expect, to be honest with you. Just
