San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters after the team's 28-21 loss to the Seattle Seahawks and discussed the injuries from the game. Here are Shanahan's updates: Kicker Robbie Gould suffered a groin injury during the pre-game. He did not play. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a calf injury and did not return. Center Alex Mack sustained a hand injury but returned. Tackle Trent Williams sustained a shoulder injury and did not return. Defensive end Arden Key suffered a stinger and returned. The 49ers initially reported that Williams suffered an elbow injury and that Key was being examined for a head injury. Those were the only differences from in-game team-issued

Today, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters via a conference call. His team is coming off a 28-21 loss to the Seattle Seahawks and fell to 2-2 on the season. Shanahan provided several injury updates from the game. The most discussed injury was to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who could not start the second half, giving way to rookie Trey Lance. Shanahan said Garoppolo suffered a calf contusion and will be re-evaluated on Wednesday. Could rookie Trey Lance's first NFL start be on the horizon? San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters before today's practice and provided an update on starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The veteran passer will not practice today during the team's first of three practices this week. The 49ers coach added that Garoppolo has not been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, though. "It's better today, which is good news," Shanahan said. "Not enough, though, to let him go [in practice], but also not enough to rule him out. The doctors still say [to] give him another day.
