San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward—"Mooney" to teammates and fans—underwent surgery in February at the Vincera Institute, known for treating core injuries. The same facility treated defensive end Nick Bosa for a lower abdominal injury in 2018. Ward sustained a groin injury against the Seattle Seahawks on December 10, 2023. However, he managed to start the four regular-season games that followed and each of the 49ers' three playoff contests. Report: Brandon Aiyuk expected to skip 49ers OTAs as contract talks remain far apart

By David Bonilla
May 21

It's hardly surprising news, but NFL Network's Mike Garafolo confirmed what many anticipated: San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is unlikely to report to Santa Clara for organized team activities (OTAs), which commenced yesterday. The team's first practice open to the media will be held this afternoon. Garafolo points out that the two sides appear to remain far apart in the negotiation process, with Aiyuk seeking a long-term deal that makes him one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL. "So don't expect to see Aiyuk around for anything that's voluntary," Garafolo shared on NFL Network's "The Insiders" show. "And let's see about the mandatory stuff as well with him because you know he wants this done. He doesn't want to have to play on the last

Report: Amon-Ra St. Brown's contract the 'benchmark' in talks between 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was seen celebrating after the Detroit Lions signed their star wideout, Amon-Ra St. Brown, to a lucrative four-year contract extension. This led many to speculate that Aiyuk, awaiting his own deal, views St. Brown's contract as a benchmark that strengthens his position at the negotiating table. According to a new report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, that speculation may very well be accurate. Aiyuk is likely seeking a deal similar to, if not exceeding, the one St. Brown received. "I was told the benchmark here is Amon-Ra St. Brown," Fowler said during "NFL Live,"

When will Jauan Jennings report to the 49ers?

By David Bonilla
May 27

The San Francisco 49ers kicked off organized team activities (OTAs) last week, allowing the media to observe one practice. One wide receiver was noticeably absent. No, I'm not talking about Brandon Aiyuk. His absence was expected as his agent continues to negotiate a contract extension for the star wideout. Jauan Jennings was also missing. While it was initially surprising not to see him with his teammates, his absence makes sense considering his situation. The 49ers tendered the restricted free agent a one-year contract worth $4.89 million, but the veteran receiver has yet to sign the deal. Since this phase of the offseason program is voluntary, Jennings isn't required to rejoin his team yet. That doesn't mean Jennings isn't working hard. He's just
