According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the New England Patriots are signing quarterback Joshua Dobbs to a two-year, $8 million contract, including $3.8 million fully guaranteed. Dobbs is one of two unrestricted free-agent quarterbacks from the San Francisco 49ers, along with Brandon Allen.
Dobbs spent just one season with the 49ers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Josh Dobbs (6-3, 220) in the fourth round (No. 135 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Tennessee.
In 2024, Dobbs appeared in two games (one start), completing 32 of 47 pass attempts (68.1 percent) for 361 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, per Pro Football Reference. Additionally, he contributed 24 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on nine carries.
Dobbs, 30, has completed 62.7 percent of his passes for 3,281 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions across 23 games (15 starts) over five NFL seasons. He's added 520 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground on 100 carries.
In addition to the Steelers and 49ers, Dobbs has suited up for the Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, and Minnesota Vikings.
