San Francisco 49ers running back Isaac Guerendo was forced to exit Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals during the first offensive drive. He was carted off to the locker room for evaluation, raising concerns about the severity of his injury.
After the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan wasn't immediately confident about the extent of the injury.
"Most likely an MCL, but we're going to have to find out for sure tomorrow," Shanahan said.
However, he also suggested that the 49ers' medical staff had not ruled out the possibility of an ACL injury, saying, "Hoping it's not an ACL."
On Monday, Guerendo provided an update via social media, confirming that he did not suffer an ACL injury. This is promising news for the rookie, who is looking to build on his strong debut season. He reassured fans that he will "be back better than ever."
ACL is good, thank you GOD. I'll be back better than ever faithful!🙌🏽 #GoNiners
Guerendo finished the season with 420 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 84 carries, averaging an impressive five yards per attempt. The 49ers selected him out of Louisville in the fourth round of last year's draft.
