The San Francisco 49ers have announced the re-signing of defensive lineman Shakel Brown, bringing him back to the team's practice squad. Brown was with the 49ers during this year's training camp.
The 49ers Communication staff provided the following rundown.
Brown (6-3, 295) originally entered the NFL after signing with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. After spending the 2023 season on the Injured Reserve List, he was waived by the Titans on May 7, 2024. Shakel signed with the 49ers on May 14, 2024, and was released by the team on August 27.
A 25-year-old native of Miami, FL, Brown attended Highlands Community College (2018) and Itawamba Community College (2019) before transferring to Troy University for three years (2020-22), where he appeared in 29 games (17 starts) and registered 58 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one pass defensed.
