Day 2 of the San Francisco 49ers training camp is officially over, as head coach Kyle Shanahan conducted a more intense, scrimmage-filled practice after a lighter Day 1 on Wednesday.

Both the offense and the defense had their moments on Day 2, although the quarterbacks struggled, which allowed the defense to dominate more.

Full Breakdown of Day 2

For a full breakdown of Day 2, listen to our podcast recapping every detail I saw during Day 2 of training camp, from the quarterbacks to standout players to those to keep an eye out for and more.

Brock Purdy's return

Brock Purdy was the headline of the day, as the quarterback returned to practice for the first time since his torn UCL injury that has sidelined him for the past few months. Here were some of his first throws of the day.

Purdy was also filmed throwing intermediate passes, where his velocity was something to watch, as people questioned whether it would remain similar or take a dip on his first day back.

Javon Kinlaw

Defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw has been a name to watch through the first days of training camp, and his frame is noticeable, as the massive former first-rounder looks well in shape, which has led to a solid rep count thus far.

49ers Rookie Hype Machine

A Taylor Swift song made the headlines for the 49ers' Rookie Hype Machine on Thursday, which comes with good timing, as the artist hosts a show at Levi's Stadium this weekend.

Punt Return

Wide Receivers Danny Gray and Ray-Ray McCloud were seen as the two punt returners during the special teams portion of practice Thursday.

Game manager or game changer? RG3 weighs in on 49ers QB Brock Purdy

By David Bonilla
Feb 17

The debate between game manager versus game-changer continues, even after Brock Purdy helped guide the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl. While the quarterback has done everything asked of him, aided by his talented supporting cast, there remain skeptics who persist in downplaying his achievements. Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III, who once played in head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense, is not among Purdy's doubters. Speaking to Jason McCourty on Griffin's podcast, "RG3 and The Ones," Griffin shared his thoughts on the 49ers' quarterback. Griffin reflects on Purdy's season and his Super Bowl appearance, insisting it's challenging to come away from his performances believing the 24-year-old quarterback is merely a game manager. "There

Bayless on 49ers: I don't believe in Kyle Shanahan or Brock Purdy

By David Bonilla
Feb 18

The San Francisco 49ers' collapse in Super Bowl 58 has fueled skepticism from one controversial media personality, indicating a lack of trust in two key figures of the franchise. Skip Bayless is among those doubting quarterback Brock Purdy's capabilities, which isn't new information. Additionally, he questions head coach Kyle Shanahan's effectiveness. Bayless says he was confident that the Kansas City Chiefs would beat the 49ers because of superior coaching by Andy Reid and exceptional talent in quarterback Patrick Mahomes. With Steve Spagnuolo leading the Chiefs' defense, Bayless believes the result was inevitable. "I'm sorry. More than ever, I don't believe in Kyle Shanahan, and I don't believe in Brock Purdy," Bayless said on his FOX Sports podcast. "And I

49ers QB Brock Purdy outlines his plans for improving his game over the offseason

By Kirk Larrabee
Feb 13

Brock Purdy is going to be a busy man in the months ahead, both on and off the field. And if everything goes right, he'll come out of it in a much better place than he was a year ago. Purdy was facing some uncertainty at this time last year after suffering a torn UCL in his elbow while trying to lead the San Francisco 49ers against the Philadelphia Eagles as a rookie quarterback in the NFC Championship game. An offseason of surgery and rehabilitation awaited Purdy in February 2023, but after a successful second season that saw him finish as a finalist for the NFL's Most Valuable Player award while guiding the 49ers to Super Bowl LVIII, Purdy will now have the opportunity to focus his offseason efforts on improving as a player instead of trying to heal his
