The San Francisco 49ers will likely add a quarterback or two this offseason. This past season's breakout star, Brock Purdy, suffered a tear of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow during the team's NFC Championship Game loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. He is expected to miss at least six months after undergoing surgery to repair the damage.

Third-year quarterback Trey Lance should be full-go by the start of organized team activities in May but is coming off a season-ending ankle injury.

"[W]e may have to look into the quarterback market, in addition to Brock and Trey, to insulate ourselves from whatever may happen," general manager John Lynch said this week at the NFL Scouting Combine.

49ers representatives spoke with at least one quarterback at the NFL Scouting Combine. According to Jordan Elliott, UCLA star Dorian Thompson-Robinson said he met with the team this week.

Thompson-Robinson (6-1, 205) completed 69.6 percent of his passes for 3,169 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in his 13 starts for the Bruins in 2022, adding 645 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns. His completion percentage ranked sixth in the nation.

The 23-year-old quarterback has completed 63.3 percent of his passes for 10,710 yards, 88 touchdowns, and 36 interceptions in his five seasons at UCLA, adding 1,826 total rushing yards and 28 rushing touchdowns.

According to various reports, San Francisco also met with the following tight ends and wide receivers at the NFL Scouting Combine.

San Francisco lacks a first- or second-round pick in next month's draft. The team is expected to own 10 selections once compensatory picks are announced. Three of those compensatory picks will be because of other teams' hirings of Robert Saleh, Martin Mayhew, Mike McDaniel, DeMeco Ryans, and Ran Carthon over the past few years.

San Francisco is also expected to gain three more compensatory selections for the losses of D.J. Jones, Arden Key, and K'Waun Williams last offseason.
