Quick Takeaways

Brock Purdy finds himself among the five highest-graded 49ers players on offense for the first time. The rookie quarterback's upward trending grades continue, starting with a 61.4 overall mark in his first extended playing time during Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins and climbing to 79.7 against the Commanders (69.1 vs. TB, 70.3 vs. SEA).

Purdy finished the game 15-of-22 for 234 passing yards, two touchdowns, an interception, and a passer rating of 114.6. He becomes the first quarterback in franchise history to win his first three NFL starts and the first rookie quarterback since 1950 to win his first three starts and throw two-or-more touchdown passes in each game.

George Kittle earned the game's highest overall grade. The tight end registered six receptions for 120 yards and two touchdowns. He now has a single-season career-high eight receiving touchdowns this season and 26 over his career.

Spencer Burford's 78.8 overall grade and 79.8 run-blocking grade are career highs. However, the guard allowed one pressure and one sack in 14 pass-blocking snaps, lowering his pass-blocking grade to 56.8.

Brandon Aiyuk led all 49ers wide receivers with 81 receiving yards on five catches and seven targets.

Kyle Juszczyk finds himself among the offensive players with the three lowest grades for the fourth time this season. The veteran fullback is on track for his lowest single-season grade since joining the 49ers and has seen his season grades drop year to year since 2019.

Nick Bosa earned the highest overall grade among the game's defensive players. The pass rusher finished with a game-high eight pressures to go along with his two sacks, increasing his season sack total to a career-high and league-high 17.5. He is two sacks away from the 49ers' single-season franchise record of 19.5, achieved by Aldon Smith in 2012.

Defensive end Jordan Willis recorded a career-high overall grade of 87.5, finishing the game with three pressures, a hit, two hurries, three tackles, a tackle for a loss, and a fumble recovery.

Cornerback Ambry Thomas also recorded a career-high overall grade (78.1) to go along with his career-high coverage grade of 77.9.

Linebacker Fred Warner recorded a game-high 13 tackles and has now registered 100 or more tackles (111 this season) in a single season for the fifth consecutive year.

Linebacker Dre Greenlaw earned the lowest grade among 49ers players and the third-lowest grade of the game (WAS FS Darrick Forrest - 28.8, WAS RG Trai Turner - 30.3).

By David Bonilla

Pro Football Focus has been going through its annual position rankings. Trent Williams came in as the NFL's best tackle, which is probably a shock to no one. The San Francisco 49ers' second-year quarterback, Brock Purdy, came in at No. 23 within his position group. A late-season stretch of promising play got Spencer Burford into the ranking of offensive guards. He came in at No. 32. Several other 49ers have appeared throughout the rankings. The team is represented in the running back, tight end,

PFF: 49ers' elite roster is reason for optimism despite "up in the air" QB situation

By David Bonilla

Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus went through all 32 NFL teams and picked a reason for optimism for each heading into the 2023 season. For example, last season's five-win Denver Broncos got a new Super Bowl-winning head coach in Sean Payton. Kenny Pickett could be ready for a second-year leap with the Pittsburgh Steelers (Hopefully, not in Week 1, though). What's the reason for optimism for the San Francisco 49ers? Sikkema admits that picking just one reason is challenging, so he went with the team's elite roster. San Francisco has stockpiled talented playmakers at almost every level. "Yes, their quarterback situation is still up in the air," wrote Sikkema. "But

Everyone says it, so it must be true. The San Francisco 49ers have a loaded roster. Stacked. Deep. Super-Bowl caliber. However you choose to describe it, we can all agree that the roster is very good. They have Pro Bowlers all over the field. But there are some spots that will be filled by young players in 2023. And these young men will be asked to step up this season, in order for the 49ers to have the chance to win the Super Bowl. Here are five young players who need to come up big in 2023: 1. Drake Jackson, Edge Rusher The 49ers built their defense in 2019 around a dominant pass rush. That season, they had a player opposite of Nick Bosa (Dee Ford) who provided a lot of pressure off the edge. Since then, however, they have been unable to

Two 49ers players listed among Next Gen Stats' top disruptors of 2022

By David Bonilla

Nick Bosa was a monster in 2022. He'll probably be a monster again in 2023. The San Francisco 49ers pass rusher is the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year after leading the NFL with 18.5 sacks and frustrating so many opposing quarterbacks. It's no surprise to see Bosa on Next Gen Stats' list of the top 10 disruptors of 2022. The defensive end comes in at No. 2 in the ranking, with only Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys ahead of him. After such an impressive campaign, why isn't Bosa listed in the top spot? "Well, it was a narrow miss," writer Nick Shook admits. "Bosa's totals are right up there with the top player on this
