49ers Training Camp Day 5 11-on-11s recap

The San Francisco 49ers had their fifth training camp practice, and first padded practice, on Monday, and there were two 11-on-11 sessions, as well as two redzone sessions, of practice in between the team drills and positional drills.

Here's a play-by-play recap of all the plays from the scrimmage sessions:

1st Scrimmage Session


1. Elijah Mitchell rushes to right, then one-cuts inside for a few yards.

2. Trey Lance hits George Kittle on a 5-yard play-action pass. Kittle gets 15 yards after the catch.

3. Trey Sermon rushes for a 6-7 yard gain.

4. JaMycal Hasty rushes for a gain of 5 yards.

5. Nate Sudfeld throws a 4-yarder to JaMycal Hasty with Dontae Johnson in coverage.

6. Trey Lance gets out for a 15-yard run off a play-action bootleg.

7. Tyrion Davis-Price is tackled for a loss. Kevin Givens and Jordan Willis were there first.

8. Brock Purdy throws the ball away after not finding an open receiver. The offensive line had great protection on the play, with left tackle Sam Schlueter having a good rep on Drake Jackson.

9. Brock Purdy hits George Kittle for 5-7 yards in the flat. Tariq Castro-Fields was the first to the receiver.

10. Jordan Mason rushes right, then cuts in for a seven-yard gain. There was good run-blocking from the right side on the play.

1st Redzone Session


1. Trey Lance throws an incompletion to Malik Turner with Jimmie Ward coverage. On the play, nobody on the offensive line moved after the snap, allowing all four defenders to rush after Lance, forcing the throw to Turner, which was broken up.

2. Trey Lance avoids the pressure from Kevin Givens, who beat Aaron Banks for the pressure, and rushed for a touchdown.

3. Trey Lance finds Brandon Aiyuk, who made a great catch over Charvarius Ward for a touchdown. There was good protection on the play.

4. Nate Sudfeld hits Deebo Samuel for a 5-yarder with Deommodore Lenoir in coverage.

5. Nate Sudfeld overthrows Ross Dwelley in the endzone for an incompletion with Tarvarius Moore in coverage.

6. Nate Sudfeld throws an incompletion to Tyrion Davis-Price on a 3-yard in-route.

7. Trey Lance scrambles, but throws an interception to Charvarius Ward on a pass intended for Elijah Mitchell. Justin Skule gave up the initial pressure.

8. Trey Lance throws an incompletion to KeeSean Johnson with Emmanuel Moseley breaking the pass up.

9. Trey Lance rushes for a short gain after facing pressure.

10. Brock Purdy scrambles for a short gain after facing pressure. Drake Jackson was the initial pressure in the backfield.

11. Brock Purdy is met in the backfield by Drake Jackson, who recorded the sack on Alfredo Gutierrez.

12. Brock Purdy finds Jordan Mason on a 5-yard throw to the flat for a first down.

2nd Scrimmage Session


1. Elijah Mitchell rushes for 1 yard between the center and left guard(Jake Brendel and Aaron Banks).

2. Trey Lance throws an incompletion after nobody was open on the play. The offensive line had good protection, especially Mike McGlinchey, who had a nice rep on Nick Bosa.

3. Trey Lance rushes for 10 yards after facing initial pressure from Nick Bosa, who beat Mike McGlinchey on a move to the inside.

4. Nate Sudfeld throws 21-yard pass to Deebo Samuel running an out-route off a bootleg to the left. Deommodore Lenoir was in coverage.

5. JaMycal Hasty rushes for 10-12 yards on the right side. Jaylon Moore, the right tackle, had a good block on the play.

6. Nate Sudfeld overthrows Malik Turner breaking in on a 20-yard route from the right-outside for an incompletion. Ambry Thomas was in coverage. Jaylon Moore had a nice rep on Kerry Hyder.

7. Elijah Mitchell rushes up the middle for five yards.

8. Trey Lance finds George Kittle in the flat for 3-yards. Drake Jackson beat Justin Skule on the play.

9. Trey Lance hits Brandon Aiyuk for a 40-yarder over Emmanuel Moseley.

11. Brock Purdy hits Tanner Hudson for a 5-yarder.

11. Tyrion Davis-Price has a good run over the middle.

12. Brock Purdy hits Jordan Mason over the middle for seven. Mason beat Leon O'Neal, and got 15 yards after the catch.

2nd Redzone Session


1. Elijah Mitchell rushes up the middle for a yard. Fred Warner was there on the play.

2. Trey Sermon rushes for 2 yards. Kerry Hyder was there on the play.

3. Trey Lance is forced to throw the ball away after an initial pressure by Kevin Givens pressure on Aaron Banks.

4. Trey Lance's throw is dropped by Jauan Jennings, as Dontae Johnson was in coverage.

5. Nate Sudfeld throws an incompletion on a pass 7 yards out.

6. Tyrion Davis-Price is stopped for no gain. Charles Omenihu was there on the play.

7. Tyrion Davis-Price is tackled for a loss by Robert Nkemdiche, who beat the right guard on the play.

8. Nate Sudfeld hits Jordan Mason on a 5-yard out.

9. Trey Lance rushes up the middle for a short gain after Drake Jackson beat Alfredo Gutierrez on the edge for a pressure.

10. Elijah Mitchell rushes for a short gain.

11. Trey Lance throws a touchdown to George Kittle on a 7-yard pass to the right. Darqueze Dennard was in coverage.

12. Brock Purdy scrambles to the sideline after facing pressure and is forced out by Jordan Willis and Charles Omenihu.

13. Brock Purdy throws an incompletion on a screen pass to Ray-Ray McCloud.

14. Brock Purdy finds Malik Turner for a touchdown with Qwuantrezz Knight in coverage.

Brock Purdy hopes to organize throwing session ahead of 49ers training camp

The San Francisco 49ers will hold a mandatory minicamp from June 4 through 6, officially concluding the team's offseason program. After that, the Niners will break for over a month and return to the Santa Clara facilities for training camp in late July. Between that time, starting quarterbacks will often organize throwing sessions with their receivers in an effort to build chemistry ahead of the rigors of training camp. 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been unable to participate in such sessions over the last two years. The last overall draft pick in 2022, Purdy had yet to make a name for himself during his first offseason. Last year, he was still recovering from offseason surgery on his throwing arm. RELATED:

49ers sign WR Trent Taylor, reuniting with former draft pick

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech. Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team. Draft Watch: Western Kentucky WR Malachi Corley visiting 49ers on Wednesday

The San Francisco 49ers are hosting several draft prospects this week as the deadline for pre-draft visits draws near. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the team will host former Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley on Wednesday. Corley is expected to be a Day 2 pick. San Francisco owns two selections on Day 2—the No. 63 overall pick in the second round and the No. 94 overall pick in the third round. Currently, the receiver is visiting with the Seattle Seahawks.
