Defensive end Dee Ford remains on the San Francisco 49ers roster. However, that could change in the coming days. General manager John Lynch didn't want to provide too much information while speaking with reporters on Tuesday but did indicate that something may be hitting the transaction wire soon.

The 49ers reported to training camp on Tuesday, with players undergoing physicals before hitting the practice field on Wednesday. Ford is not with his teammates, though.

"He's not [here]," Lynch said. "I can tell you guys [that] the next couple of days, they're working through some things, league PA and all that. But I think you guys will see a transaction, and we'll leave it at that."

Ford has struggled with injuries since the Kansas City Chiefs traded him to the 49ers in 2019. The veteran pass rusher has only appeared in 18 regular-season games and taken part in 378 snaps in his three seasons with San Francisco.

Due to ongoing back issues, the Niners placed Ford on injured reserve on November 6, 2021. He was eligible to return later in the season but never made it back to the active roster.

The Chiefs made Ford the No. 23 overall pick in 2014. He recorded five tackles, two tackles for a loss, four quarterback hits, and three sacks through six games in 2021 before landing on injured reserve.
