As if the NFL couldn't get any crazier over the past two weeks.

The Las Vegas Raiders and the Green Bay Packers have reached an agreement to send Davante Adams to the Raiders in exchange for two 2022 picks, including their first-round selection, which stands at No. 22 overall in the draft, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Adams, who had been adamant about a contract extension, now reunites with his college teammate at Fresno State, quarterback Derek Carr, in Las Vegas, where they'll compete in a loaded AFC West for a potential playoff spot in 2022.

The Raiders had already made an offseason trade, sending defensive end Yannick Ngakoue to the Indianapolis Colts for cornerback Rock Ya-Sin in a player-for-player swap on Wednesday, improving their roster, alongside the Denver Broncos, who've acquired quarterback Russell Wilson and San Francisco 49ers fan-favorite defensive tackle D.J. Jones, the Kansas City Chiefs, who've been a contender in the AFC for several years, and the Los Angeles Chargers, who traded for defensive end Khalil Mack and signed cornerback J.C. Jackson in an effort to eclipse their division rivals in 2022.

Adams received a five-year extension worth $141.25 million, averaging $28.25 million per year on his new deal going into his age-30 season.

Adams was expected to be the highest-paid wide receiver eligible for an extension this offseason, although a couple of third-year players, 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel, Tennessee Titans receiver A.J. Brown, Seattle Seahawks receiver D.K. Metcalf, and Washington Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin, are all in the mix to get hefty long-term contracts this offseason from their respective teams.

Prior to agreeing to his new extension, Adams was reportedly fetching $30 million per year on a potential deal, however; the star receiver received just(I know, just) $28.25 million per season on this contract.

How does that bode for Deebo Samuel?

After a week in which Christian Kirk managed to obtain a four-year, $82 million deal and Chris Godwin signed a three-year, $60 million deal off an ACL tear, this news bodes well for the 49ers regarding Deebo Samuel.

While he potentially could've warranted asking for $26-27 million per year had Adams received a $30 million per year contract, Adams's settled price likely resorts Samuel, and his fellow third-year receivers, to an average annual value of around $24 million a year, which was my prediction a couple of months ago for a Samuel contract.

$28 Million .. Wow.. I know the Cap is supposed to skyrocket in 2023 with the new TV deals and the money from their gaming partners but this getting pretty crazy.. Deebo is 26. Offer him a five year $125 million dollar deal with $80 million guaranteed. That should do it..

By Al Sacco
Apr 16

With the 2024 NFL Draft less than a week away, it's common for the rumor mill to start churning, especially with players who are actively seeking a new contract. It was just two short years ago that WR Deebo Samuel requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers prior to draft day, only for cooler heads to prevail and eventually agree to a new deal. Now, it's WR Brandon Aiyuk's turn to try and get paid and rumors surfaced over the weekend that he too would request to be dealt. While that report was quickly shot down by his agent, there's still a lot of discussion about Aiyuk's future and if other teams will come calling on draft night. Amidst swirling trade rumors surrounding Brandon Aiyuk, the speculation surrounding Deebo Samuel's future with the San Francisco 49ers seems to have quieted down. According to Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle, the 49ers have assured Samuel that he will not be involved in any pre- or post-draft transactions, ensuring his place on the roster for the time being. "Samuel, who signed a three-year, $71.55 million extension before the 2022 season, has been assured by his bosses that he will not be dealt during or after the draft," Silver reported, citing a source familiar with the discussions. Trent Williams will be 36 at the start of the 2024 NFL season. While retirement isn't on his mind just yet, the San Francisco 49ers must consider a succession plan for left tackle. NFL Media's Bucky Brooks unveiled his final mock draft, projecting the San Francisco 49ers to select former Arizona offensive tackle Jordan Morgan with the No. 31 overall pick as their eventual replacement for Williams. "With Trent Williams entering the twilight of his career, the 49ers have to find an eventual replacement on the edge," Brooks noted. "Morgan is a sound blocker at the point of attack with diverse skills

Silver: New 49ers intel reveals potential Brandon Aiyuk trade still in play

By David Bonilla

When asked about the possibility of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk not being on the San Francisco 49ers roster on Friday morning, general manager John Lynch responded, "I wouldn't anticipate that." Lynch assured reporters that signing Aiyuk to a long-term extension is a priority, stating, "And our wish is that he's here and a part of the Niners for the rest of his career. We're working through that." While Lynch didn't elaborate on the conversations occurring behind closed doors, Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that a potential trade remains a
