The San Francisco 49ers' 2021 campaign is officially over, following a 20-17 defeat against the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game. So it's time to look ahead toward the offseason and the many important dates that may impact the Bay Area team's 2022 roster.

February 3
  • East-West Shrine Bowl, Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Nevada.

February 5
  • Senior Bowl, Hancock Whitney Stadium, Mobile, Alabama.

February 6
  • NFL Pro Bowl, Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Nevada.

February 13
  • Super Bowl LVI, SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California.

February 19
  • HBCU Legacy Bowl, Yulman Stadium, New Orleans, Louisiana.

March 1-7
  • NFL Scouting Combine, Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana.

March 8
  • 1:00 p.m. PT deadline for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

March 14-16
  • During the period beginning at 9:00 a.m. PT on March 14 and ending at 12:59:59 p.m. PT on March 16, clubs are permitted to contact and enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become unrestricted free agents upon the expiration of their 2021 player contracts at 1:00 p.m. PT on March 16.

  • The trading period for 2022 starts at 1:00 p.m. PT, after the expiration of all 2021 contracts.

49ers begin offseason workout program today

The San Francisco 49ers are among the 25 teams kicking off their offseason workout program today. However, don't expect to see players facing off against each other on the practice field for the next couple of weeks. The program's early portion, dubbed "Phase One," spans two weeks and includes limited activities such as meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only. The second phase of the offseason program extends for three weeks and includes on-field workouts for individual or group instruction and drills. After that, teams can hold up to 10 days of organized team activities on the practice field.
