49ers tackle Mike McGlinchey out for the season with torn quad

The San Francisco 49ers will be without right tackle Mike McGlinchey for the remainder of the season. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the offensive lineman suffered a torn quad in the team's 31-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Tom Compton replaced McGlinchey in the game. During his post-game press conference, head coach Kyle Shanahan said the
49ers would also consider rookie
Jaylon Moore if McGlinchey had to miss extended time. However, the team opted against playing Moore on the right side on Sunday because Moore has been playing on the left side.
San Francisco made Moore a fifth-round draft pick out of Western Michigan in April.
The 49ers drafted McGlinchey (6-8, 310) out of Notre Dame with the No. 9 overall pick in 2018. He has 52 game appearances, all starts, through his four NFL seasons. McGlinchey's Pro Football Focus pass-blocking grade of 70.0 is a career-high. However, his run-blocking grade of 64.8 is a career-low.

The San Francisco 49ers are likely hoping that a top offensive lineman drops to them at No. 31 in the first round of this month's draft. Fans would like to see the team add someone to compete with Colton McKivitz for the right tackle spot and potentially take over for Trent Williams when the future Hall of Famer decides to retire.
