49ers tackle Mike McGlinchey out for the season with torn quad

Nov 8, 2021 at 11:12 AM--

The San Francisco 49ers will be without right tackle Mike McGlinchey for the remainder of the season. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the offensive lineman suffered a torn quad in the team's 31-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

Tom Compton replaced McGlinchey in the game. During his post-game press conference, head coach Kyle Shanahan said the 49ers would also consider rookie Jaylon Moore if McGlinchey had to miss extended time. However, the team opted against playing Moore on the right side on Sunday because Moore has been playing on the left side.

San Francisco made Moore a fifth-round draft pick out of Western Michigan in April.

The 49ers drafted McGlinchey (6-8, 310) out of Notre Dame with the No. 9 overall pick in 2018. He has 52 game appearances, all starts, through his four NFL seasons. McGlinchey's Pro Football Focus pass-blocking grade of 70.0 is a career-high. However, his run-blocking grade of 64.8 is a career-low.

Cooper Neill, a Dallas-based photographer and journalist, captured a great photo of San Francisco 49ers tackle Trent Williams following Sunday's playoff victory over the Dallas Cowboys. It shows the All-Pro tackle all smiles while interacting with Cowboys fans, even as two of them expressed their displeasure by raising their middle finger at the 6-foot-5, 320-pound behemoth of a man. Pro Football Focus shared the photo, and it's hard to disagree with their comment that it belongs in the Hall of Fame. The still of Williams at AT&T Stadium is quickly becoming a fan-favorite on social media. This photo of Trent Williams and

San Francisco is preparing to play the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Saturday in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. The team is coming off a Sunday win against the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round, which means one less day of preparation for the Niners. 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel will interview for the Dolphins head coaching job tomorrow

Mike McDaniel's crystal ball: 49ers coach predicts Jimmy Garoppolo throws the ball well in practice

San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel is not a fortune teller. However, he did peer into the crystal ball while speaking with reporters before Wednesday's practice. The 49ers are preparing to face their next playoff opponent—the Green Bay Packers—at Lambeau Field. However, their quarterback is banged up. Jimmy Garoppolo has been playing through a torn ligament and chipped bone in his right thumb. Then he suffered a right shoulder sprain during Sunday's playoff win against the Dallas Cowboys. For a right-handed quarterback, that is problematic. Garoppolo is still expected to start against the Packers. His offensive coordinator, Mike McDaniel, spoke with reporters before Wednesday's practice. What does he expect to see

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing to play the Green Bay Packers on Saturday. Offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel and defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans spoke with reporters before today's practice. Here is everything they had to say. Transcript provided by the San Francisco 49ers Communications staff. Offensive Coordinator Mike McDaniel You're often serious in talking football with us, but you also are not afraid to show your personality and humor. I don't know if you had felt like this was any sort of decision you made, but when you started to talk to us this season for the first time, was it like, 'Hey, I'm just going to be myself,' because it seems like you could have opted for a little more conservative
