Neither Jimmy Garoppolo nor Trey Lance started hot against the Los Angeles Chargers. Both San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks threw interceptions early on. Lance, however, received some extended playing time and remained on the field into the third quarter.

Lance ended up throwing two touchdowns before Nate Sudfeld took over. The first came in the first half's closing seconds, with San Francisco training 10-2. The rookie quarterback delivered the birthday gift to veteran wide receiver Mohamed Sanu in the end zone.

Lance's second touchdown pass came in the third quarter, landing in the hands of former Chargers receiver Travis Benjamin, who caught it in stride and continued into the end zone.

Lance finished the game 8-of-14 passing for 102 yards with two touchdowns, one interception, and a passer rating of 89.9.

Of course, he accomplished this feat during his time with the Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers. Entering Week 13, McCaffrey led the league with 939 rushing yards, requiring only 61 more to secure his fourth career season surpassing the 1,000-yard mark. He achieved this milestone in the third quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles, becoming the first 49ers running back to reach 1,000 rushing yards since Frank Gore did so in 2014 with 1,106 rushing yards. McCaffrey was on pace for 1,451 rushing yards leading up to the game, a potential single-season career-high. Additionally, he was on track to rack up 2,052 all-purpose yards, which
