The original story is below.
San Francisco 49ers fans might be inching closer to a sigh of relief. It looked like there was a good chance that the team might lose one or both of its two top executives in Adam Peters and Martin Mayhew. Peters was reportedly among the final four candidates for the Carolina Panthers' general manager job, while Washington has expressed interest in Mayhew.
Mayhew will reportedly interview with Washington on Friday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports is indicating that Peters may be out of the running in Carolina, noting that the decision there is closer to being down to the final three candidates — Tennessee Titans director of player personnel Monti Ossenfort, Kansas City Chiefs assistant director of player personnel Ryan Poles, and Seattle Seahawks VP of football operations Scott Fitterer.

If true, that would mean that the VP of player personnel is no longer among those being seriously considered, which means that 49ers general manager John Lynch might be able to retain at least one of his top lieutenants.
