The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of running back Tyler Gaffney to the practice squad.
The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.
Gaffney (6-0, 220) was originally drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the sixth round (204th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. Throughout his NFL career, he has spent time with the Panthers (2014), New England Patriots (2014-16) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2017-18).
A 29-year-old native of San Diego, CA, Gaffney attended Stanford University where he played in 49 games (14 starts) and registered 486 carries for 2,500 yards and 33 touchdowns to go along with 32 receptions for 264 yards and four touchdowns through the air. As a senior in 2013, he started 14 games and finished with 330 carries for 1,709 yards and earned Second-Team All-Pac 12 honors.
