The San Francisco 49ers announced that the team has waived wide receiver Dante Pettis and defensive lineman Jullian Taylor.
Pettis had been inactive for three consecutive games before being active this past Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. San Francisco made him a second-round draft pick out of Washington in 2018.
Pettis has not registered a catch this season and recorded just 11 for 109 yards and two touchdowns last year. On his final play with the 49ers — assuming he isn't signed to the practice squad — Pettis fumbled the football and injured his shoulder on an 18-yard kickoff return against the Seahawks.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed on October 23 that the 49ers had made and taken calls on potential trades for Pettis. The trade deadline was today at 1 p.m. PT.
Taylor has been on the physically-unable-to-perform list since the start of the season. He landed on injured reserve late last season after suffering an ACL injury. San Francisco made Taylor a seventh-round pick out of Temple in 2018.
The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown:
Pettis (6-1, 195) appeared in five games (one start) this season and registered two punt returns for 14 yards and one kickoff return for 18 yards on special teams.
Taylor (6-5, 305) was placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List on September 5, 2020.
