There was a fear that offensive tackle Trent Williams might miss some time after suffering an ankle injury on Sunday night against the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Kyle Shanahan joined KNBR on Friday morning and sounded optimistic that his seven-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman will play this weekend against the New England Patriots.

"It's looking optimistic," Shanahan said on the Murph & Mac show. "Hopefully, we don't have any setbacks today. He wasn't able to go Wednesday. He was limited yesterday, but he got out there. I'd be surprised if he doesn't go. I haven't seen him today, so as long as we don't have any setbacks, I'm anticipating to have good news this afternoon."

This afternoon is when the 49ers will release their official game statuses for players.

Williams has started all six games with the 49ers this season, his first with the team. It sounds like that should continue on Sunday.

The 49ers promoted running back JaMycal Hasty from the practice squad to the active roster on October 3 after protecting him in previous weeks. That was because they had to do so. Other teams were interested in signing the undrafted free agent off of San Francisco's practice squad.

"Hasty, with the camp that he had, we felt very fortunate to keep him here on (the) practice squad," Shanahan said. "Some other people knew about him from his college career and probably from people writing articles and stuff on how he looks in practice, so there was a couple of weeks that people tried to steal him from us because people can steal them off your practice squad.

"Once Tevin (Coleman) got hurt, we were able to bring him up. We see his skill set, and that's why we're always excited to go with him if the opportunity comes up."

Hasty has 46 rushing yards on 11 carries this season.

The San Francisco 49ers restructured fullback Kyle Juszczyk's contract this week, generating approximately $4 million in salary cap space for 2024 and roughly $1.1 million for 2025. They accomplished this by converting salary into a signing bonus and extending the cap implications through three void years. Effectively, Juszczyk now has a two-year, $9.1 million deal, keeping him under contract through 2025, with the salary cap impact stretching until 2026. #49ers FB Kyle Juszczyk's new contract reduced his base pay in

Just hours after news broke that the San Francisco 49ers plan to release defensive tackle Arik Armstead as a salary-cap savings move, Adam Caplan of Pro Football Network revealed that the team has initiated discussions with long-serving fullback Kyle Juszczyk regarding a potential salary reduction. "The San Francisco 49ers have approached fullback Kyle Juszczyk, an eight-time Pro Bowl (2016-2023) selection and first-team All-Pro last season, for a salary reduction for the 2024 season, a league source said," Caplan wrote. Charvarius Ward willing to help 49ers land Tre'Davious White

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers likely aren't finished fortifying their defense and have reportedly expressed interest in bolstering their defensive backfield. If they require assistance making a significant move, one 49ers player is prepared to lend a helping hand. Last week, the Buffalo Bills released All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White, who appears to be an ideal fit for San Francisco's needs opposite Charvarius Ward. Over the weekend, Ward took to social media to reveal that he and White share the same agent and that he is willing to nudge the free-agent defensive back in the right direction. Ward described White as a "hand in glove
