Breer: WR Dante Pettis ‘made available’ by 49ers for trade

Oct 22, 2020 at 7:25 PM--

On Thursday morning, ESPN named wide receiver Dante Pettis as the most-likely San Francisco 49ers candidate to be traded before the November 3 deadline. According to a report by Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the 49ers have made the third-year receiver available (h/t to Ali Thanawalla of NBC Sports).

"The Niners have made available a receiver they once had high hopes for, in Dante Pettis," wrote Breer.

Unfortunately, that's all Breer wrote within the feature for Sports Illustrated, which examines players who might be made available via trade. It's unknown if that means the 49ers are actively shopping Pettis or have simply announced that they are willing to listen to any interested parties. Neither necessarily means that San Francisco will find a trade partner.

Pettis has no receptions this season and has only been targeted once after what many felt was a solid training camp showing in August. The young receiver looked to rebound from a disappointing 11-catch, 209-yard, and two-touchdown campaign in 2019.

Pettis has been inactive for the last two games.

With the 49ers 69-man roster (53-man roster + 16 players on the practice squad) set for now, let's take a look at what the potential depth chart could be. Over the course of the past few days, the team has sent players to IR, allowing replacements to take spots on the 53-man roster. In addition, I'll be talking about the gameday roster A LOT in this article, which overall includes 55 players as the NFL allows for two additional players to be on the gameday roster who aren't on the 53-man roster. Of those 55 total players, 48 can be deemed active and available to play in a game. But, enough terminology. Let's predict the 49ers depth chart for Week 1 of the 2021 NFL

ESPN's latest NFL power ranking is causing a bit of a stir among fans. Not only does writer Mike Clay have the San Francisco 49ers ranked No. 15 in the league, but he also has them as the last-listed representative of the NFC West. While the 49ers and Los Angeles Rams are oddsmakers' favorites to win the division, the Seattle Seahawks surprisingly come in at No. 6, the highest-ranking among the four NFC West teams. The Los Angeles Rams can be found six spots later at No. 12. Even the Arizona Cardinals are ranked higher than San Francisco. One spot higher, in fact, at No. 14. So why the
