San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan informed reporters that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will start on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
"He did a good job," Shanahan said. "Each day, he got better. He never felt too sore the next day, so we needed to hear that today, and see him out there today, and we feel good to go, and he'll be starting Sunday."
Garoppolo has practiced the last three days after missing two games. He suffered a high-ankle sprain during Week 2 against the New York Jets.
Shanahan also said that C.J. Beathard, not Nick Mullens, will be Garoppolo's backup against the Dolphins. Mullens has served as the 49ers' No. 2 quarterback since the start of last season.
