49ers express interest in bringing back DL Damontre Moore

Jul 29, 2020 at 7:00 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers reported a visit with defensive lineman Damontre Moore, according to Howard Balzer of 590 The Fan. It is unknown if Moore visited virtually or in some other way. The team could simply be checking on the defensive lineman, should there be a need to add him during the season.

Moore spent part of last season with San Francisco. After an offseason with the 49ers, the team re-signed him to a one-year deal on November 13, 2019. He fractured his forearm on November 24, 2019, during a Week 12 victory against the Green Bay Packers, and landed on injured reserve.

Moore became an unrestricted free agent in March. He recorded five tackles, a quarterback hit, and a forced fumble last season through two games with San Francisco.

A former third-round pick by the New York Giants in 2013, Moore has also played for the Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, and Oakland Raiders. He spent time last year with the San Diego Fleet of the now-defunct Alliance of American Football league during the startup's abbreviated inaugural season before joining the 49ers.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo wasn't with the San Francisco 49ers since the beginning of this roster overhaul. He did arrive midway through the first season, though, and since then, team decision-makers Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch have worked hard to add weapons around their franchise quarterback. The results of those efforts were evident last season, as the 49ers won their division and represented the NFC in the Super Bowl. Now, the journey back begins, and Garoppolo believes he has the tools at his disposal to get the 49ers back to the Super Bowl. The quarterback spoke with reporters on Tuesday via a video conference call and was asked if Shanahan's and Lynch's efforts to add complementary pieces have been good. "Absolutely," Garoppolo

Why did ESPN and PFF name Jimmy Garoppolo as 49ers' bounce-back candidate for 2020?

By David Bonilla
Aug 8, 2020

Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 3,978 yards with 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while completing 69.1 percent of his pass attempts. Most would agree those are pretty good numbers for a quarterback who just completed his first full NFL season as a starter. Add to that a division championship, the No. 1 seed in the NFC, and a trip to the Super Bowl, and you might be scratching your head as to why ESPN and Pro Football Focus identified Garoppolo as their 49ers bounce-back candidate — a player who "struggled in 2019 but could bounce back in 2020." A lot of the reasoning has to do with Super Bowl LIV. Pro Football Focus

GM John Lynch expects contract extension with 49ers soon, says it may be 'on the horizon'

By David Bonilla
Jul 28, 2020

It was reported in June that the San Francisco 49ers signed head coach Kyle Shanahan to a contract extension, keeping him with the team through the 2025 season. That led to questions about why the team didn't do the same for general manager John Lynch at the time. The two, after all, joined the 49ers at the same time with matching six-year contracts. Lynch may be getting a new deal soon. That's what he indicated Tuesday morning during an interview on KNBR. RELATED: John Lynch says George Kittle will report to training camp, won't put a
