Yes, the article that appeared as the lead story on Tuesday, April 1st, was an April Fools story. As we do every year, the staff (big thanks to Oscar for his hand in writing most of it) worked hard to come up with yet another April 1st gag.
Thank you to all of the 49ers fans who found it amusing. And thanks to all of those who were actually tricked by it. We had fun tricking you and then reading about your panic attacks in the forum. And thanks to everyone that helped ... staff and non-staff.
And an even bigger thanks to the media outlets that were tricked by it. That always makes us smile.

For those of you who were trying to figure out who the "Niner Legends" photos were in the forum, they were Kevan Barlow, Lawrence Phillips, Kwame Harris, Jim Druckenmiller, Rashaun Woods and Jose Cortez.
And for those trying to figure out what the new member types were, veterans were listed as "NOOB," regular members were listed as "New NOOB," and users with under 200 posts were listed as "Gold Member."
