During each week leading to the draft, we will look at a collection of mock drafts from various sources and compile a list of the top prospects projected to head to the 49ers.

Thirty-eight of the 54 mock drafts that I looked at this week have the San Francisco 49ers selecting a wide receiver with the No. 13 overall pick. That doesn't include scenarios that have the team trading down a few spots and still selecting a receiver. The three most popular choices, unsurprisingly, remain the top three receiver prospects in the 2020 draft class — Jerry Jeudy of Alabama, CeeDee Lamb of Oklahoma, and Henry Ruggs of Alabama.

Jeudy and Lamb were tied for the most popular choices last week, with the former leading the group this week.

The receiver position is seen as a need for the 49ers after veteran Emmanuel Sanders, whom the team traded for last season, left to the New Orleans Saints via free agency.

The 49ers own two first-round picks. In addition to the No. 13 overall selection, which it acquired via a trade with the Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco also holds its original pick at No. 31.

The 54 mock drafts that we scoured through include big-name sites like ESPN and NFL.com to smaller independent fan-run sites, along with everything in-between. Projected trades are noted in the breakdown below.

Offensive lineman Cesar Ruiz of Michigan, last week's leader for the most popular selection at No. 31 overall, is joined this week by cornerback Trevon Diggs of Alabama. Mostly defensive players follow them in the predictions for that spot.

Below are the top-ranked projections for the 49ers at No. 13 among the mock drafts we examined.

Schrager mock draft has 49ers adding 'universally liked and respected' receiver

By David Bonilla
Apr 16

With only nine days remaining until the start of the 2024 NFL Draft, Good Morning Football's Peter Schrager revealed his first mock draft of the year. While most might expect the San Francisco 49ers to target an offensive lineman, Schrager has the team bolstering its wide receiver corps with an SEC talent. Schrager has the 49ers using the No. 31 overall pick to select former Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey, whose 2023 campaign with the Bulldogs was limited by back and ankle injuries. "McConkey in the first round? Yes," Schrager wrote. "Above guys like Troy Franklin and Keon Coleman? Perhaps. I've spoken to a

7-round mock draft from The Athletic sees 49ers fortifying defense early

By David Bonilla

Analyst Dane Brugler recently revealed his seven-round mock draft for The Athletic, forecasting all 257 selections in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, set to kick off next week. "Piecing together a mock like this is time consuming, but I enjoy the exercise, because it allows me to focus on each team's needs, organizational trends and prospect-team pairings that make sense based on '30' visits, league buzz and overall interest," Brugler wrote. Most expect the 49ers to address the trenches early in the draft, and Brugler has the team doing that. It's just not on the offensive side of the football. In fact, Brugler doesn't have San Francisco

7-round mock draft: 49ers trade up to fortify secondary

By David Bonilla
Apr 19

The San Francisco 49ers first selection in next week's draft comes at No. 31 overall. However, NFL Media analyst Chad Reuter doesn't have the Bay Area team remaining at that spot in the first round. In his seven-round mock draft, he envisions the 49ers striking a deal with the Green Bay Packers to move up six spots to No. 25 overall, where they select former Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry. Reuter notes, "Whether it's for a cornerback like McKinstry, an offensive lineman or a receiver, the 49ers could very well give up a mid-round pick to acquire one of the few missing pieces on an otherwise potent roster." The rest of the mock draft reveals at least part of the

49ers trade up for offensive lineman in mock draft

By David Bonilla
Apr 19

The San Francisco 49ers hold the No. 31 overall pick, but speculation abounds that they may seek to move before or during the first round of next week's NFL Draft. With the offensive line as a prime target for improvement and the position going mostly ignored in free agency, a strategic trade-up to acquire an impact player could be in the cards. Alyssa Barbieri proposes such a scenario in her latest mock draft for USA Today's Touchdown Wire. Barbieri envisions the 49ers trading with the Miami Dolphins to move up 10 spots, selecting former Alabama offensive lineman JC Latham. Latham started 27 games
