No Huddle Podcast: 49ers’ Super Bowl LIV collapse and potential offseason moves

Feb 3, 2020 at 11:01 PM--

Levin and Rob are joined by the show's former host, Al Sacco, to discuss the San Francisco 49ers' heartbreaking collapse against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV. How much of the loss falls on head coach Kyle Shanahan's shoulders? How much falls on quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's shoulders? What about the officiating? Everything about the game is broken down and evaluated.

The trio also compares and contrasts Shanahan's squad to Jim Harbaugh's, goes through an exercise to determine which NFL quarterbacks they would take over Garoppolo, and discusses what roster upgrades are needed this offseason and which players might not return.

Stick around at the end for Zain's thoughts on the game.

No Huddle Podcast: Why we're not buying the Mac Jones-to-49ers hype

By Site Staff
Apr 7, 2021

Mac Jones. It's a name that is dividing the San Francisco 49ers fanbase. The former Alabama quarterback is being touted as a lock to the Niners, who own the No. 3 overall draft pick, and Al and Zain aren't happy about it. The duo discusses the following: What to make of all the Jones-to-49ers speculation The lack of evidence to back it up Why Garoppolo returning could turn into a circus Who should be the pick at No. 3? You can

Neither Lynch nor Shanahan asked Nick Saban about Mac Jones, potential 49ers draft pick, at pro day

File this under interesting pre-draft tidbits. San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan were in attendance for Alabama's pro day last week. That made headlines because the duo opted to watch quarterback Mac Jones rather than attend Ohio State's pro day to watch Justin Fields. Paired with Chris Simms' speculation that San Francisco might have traded up to the No. 3 spot for Jones, that spurred others to seriously consider a Jones-to-49ers scenario. Alabama head coach Nick Saban recently joined the Dan Patrick Show and shared that neither Lynch nor Shanahan asked him anything about his former quarterback, who helped guide the Crimson Tide to a national championship. And it wasn't because they didn't have an opportunity to do

DUI described as a 'transitional event' for Mac Jones, potential 49ers draft pick

Much has been made of Mac Jones' DUI in 2017. Some would say that not enough has been made of it while evaluating the former Alabama quarterback's character. However, a recent feature from NFL.com sheds some light on the incident and how it altered Jones' path. At the time, Jones was a redshirt freshman and the third quarterback on the depth chart. In the very early hours of November 3, 2017, Jones was involved in a car accident, underwent a sobriety test, and was then arrested for driving under the influence. He was also charged with improper ID by a minor. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. "We are disappointed in

Former NFL QB explains why criticisms of Justin Fields, potential 49ers draft pick, are 'bogus'

No one is questioning Justin Fields' athleticism. Some question the former Ohio State quarterback's ability to transition from the college game to the pros quickly. Mark Sanchez recently joined The Pat McAfee Show and explained why Fields' ability to learn an NFL playbook might not take as long as some might be anticipating. Maybe all of his skeptics, who want to find ways to bring the quarterback down, are wrong. "For Justin, this guy, Dr. Goldman, he's a sports psychologist; I talked to him yesterday," Sanchez said (h/t to Jordan Cohn of 95.7 The Game). "He has some interesting
