Congratulations to San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch, who on Thursday was named the NFL's Executive of the Year by the Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA).

Lynch is in his third season as the 49ers general manager and, along with his staff and head coach Kyle Shanahan, helped rebuild one of the most talent-depleted rosters into a championship contender.

Lynch's 49ers are preparing to host the Green Bay Packers in Sunday's NFC Championship Game after winning the NFC West, the NFC's No. 1 playoff seed, and finishing with a 13-3 regular-season record. That comes a season after the team finished with four total wins.

Lynch's offseason moves to improve the 49ers roster are highlighted by the signing of linebacker Kwon Alexander and running back Tevin Coleman, a trade to acquire pass rusher Dee Ford, and the drafting of defensive end Nick Bosa.

Bosa, by the way, was named the 2019 PFWA Rookie and Defensive Rookie of the Year. Both he and fellow rookie linebacker Dre Greenlaw were named to the 2019 PFWA All-Rookie team.

This is the first PFWA Executive of the Year honor for Lynch. Carmen Policy earned the honor in 1994, and Trent Baalke was the 2011 honoree.

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was named the 2019 NFL Coach of the Year while his offensive coordinator, Greg Roman, was voted as the Assistant Coach of the Year.
