49ers’ Raheem Mostert nominated for FedEx Ground Player of the Week after career game vs. Ravens

Dec 2, 2019 at 10:33 PM--

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert had a career day during Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He recorded career highs in both rushing attempts (19) and rushing yards (146), averaging 7.7 yards per carry, and found the end zone once in the game. It was his second consecutive game averaging 7.5-or-more rushing yards per attempt.

Mostert's performance in the loss has earned him a Week 13 nomination for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week award.

The other nominees for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week are running backs Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans and Derrius Guice of the Washington Redskins. Henry rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown while Guice had 129 yards with two scores.

The last 49ers player to earn the honor was running back Tevin Coleman, who won the award after an impressive Week 8 performance against the Carolina Panthers.

He hopes to have a good enough career to one day find himself in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. If last season's Green Bay Packers defense were the voters, Mostert might be a shoo-in. The former undrafted player rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries against the Packers defense in the NFC Championship Game, helping to punch the 49ers' ticket to Super Bowl LIV. "[The performance] really opened up my eyes," Mostert said in April. "[I said], 'Hey look, I did this. Why stop? Just keep going. Keep doing the right
