Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported on Sunday that the San Francisco 49ers are "aggressively pursuing" a wide receiver from the trade market. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has since downplayed the team's aggressiveness when it comes to making a deal, saying that the team likes the receivers it currently has on the roster.

Atlanta Falcons receiver Mohamed Sanu was on La Canfora's list of potential targets. The New England Patriots traded for Sanu on Tuesday morning, so if there was interest on the Niners' part, it doesn't matter now.

La Canfora tweeted on Tuesday, following the Sanu trade, that he expects the 49ers will end up with Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders. He states that San Francisco was "very much in" on trying to acquire Sanu before Tuesday.

Adam Schefter of ESPN confirmed on Sunday the reports that the 49ers were among the teams to inquire about Sanders.

NFL insider Benjamin Allbright, who was the first to report on the 49ers inquiring about Sanders, believes San Francisco will eventually land the 32-year-old Denver receiver — if he is traded.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made Sanders a third-round selection out of SMU in 2010. He has registered 30 receptions for 367 yards with two touchdowns through seven starts with the Broncos this season.

Sanders has caught 565 passes for 7,391 yards with 39 touchdowns through his 10 NFL seasons.

A questionable rumor surfaced on Wednesday regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers' interest in San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. Sports Illustrated contributor Noah Strackbein reported that the AFC team was seemingly confident they could pull off a trade for Aiyuk. However, the credibility of this report comes into question due to the assertion that the Steelers believe they could acquire Aiyuk at a bargain price, possibly in exchange for a second-round draft pick and a late-round selection. Why one analyst is worried for Brock Purdy if 49ers trade Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla
Apr 18

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy achieved a remarkable feat in 2023, setting a single-season franchise record with 4,280 passing yards. This accomplishment is noteworthy, considering the illustrious quarterbacks who have graced the organization's history. A significant portion of those yards came from wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who amassed a career-high and team-leading 1,342 receiving yards. Most of his 75 catches originated from passes thrown by Purdy. Amidst significant offseason chatter surrounding the 49ers' star receiver, including several unsubstantiated trade rumors, Aiyuk's future remains uncertain. Former NFL player James Jones, now an analyst, expressed concern for Purdy should Aiyuk's tenure in the Bay Area come to an end. "I
