49ers among teams to inquire about ‘unavailable’ Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders, per report

Oct 16, 2019 at 12:58 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers are among the teams to make a call about Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, according to Benjamin Allbright, an NFL insider and radio host in the Denver area. The other teams are the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, and potentially others.

All the teams received the same response, per the report. Sanders, a 32-year-old two-time Pro Bowl selection, is not currently available.

It's unknown how serious San Francisco was about Sanders. 49ers general manager John Lynch and Broncos general manager John Elway are close friends and have exchanged players with one another in the past.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made Sanders a third-round selection out of SMU in 2010. He has registered 25 receptions for 307 yards with two touchdowns through six starts this season. Sanders has caught 560 passes for 7,331 yards with 39 touchdowns through his 10 NFL seasons.

As part of his reworked contract with the 49ers, OT Trent Williams cannot be franchise tagged after this season, per source. Grant Cohn of Sports Illustrated reports that he received a message from a "well-placed source," saying that talk surrounding New York Jets safety Jamal Adams possibly heading to the San Francisco 49ers is "picking up steam." We always recommend that you temper your expectations when it comes to such rumors, but the beat writer did put it out there. Cohn doesn't offer up any additional information surrounding the message that he received. The Jets made Adams the No. 6 overall selection in 2017 after

The San Francisco 49ers are in no danger of losing last season's breakout running back, Raheem Mostert, anytime soon. He doesn't become an unrestricted free agent until 2022. Fourth-year wideout Kendrick Bourne, however, is scheduled to become a free agent next year after signing a one-year tender in April. The 49ers have had discussions about contract extensions for both players, according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic.
