The San Francisco 49ers announced in June that the end zones at Levi's Stadium would retain the team name written in what 49ers president Al Guido has termed "the saloon font" for the entirety of the 2019 season. Fans were overjoyed.
"That's going to stay in the end zone," Guido told David Lombardi of The Athletic this past week.
Even better, if the 49ers make the playoffs, the team will paint the end-zone background red, as it did during the team's heyday at Candlestick Park.
The end zones don't appear exactly as they did last year and feature red in the letters of the team name and the NFC logo without the helmet. You can see a comparison of the end-zone design today compared to last season, as provided by Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee.
It's a nice look that's modernized just a bit yet still honors the franchise's rich history.
