San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has already expressed his confidence in defensive coordinator Robert Saleh a couple of times this week. Cornerback Richard Sherman has also done so. As did defensive lineman DeForest Buckner.

Saleh told reporters on Thursday that he doesn't hear the outside noise, referring to the online criticism he has received this season.

"If you allow yourself to get in a world of things you have zero control over, which is people talking, it just takes away from your ability to do your best at any moment," Saleh said.

General manager John Lynch is the latest to chime in on the Saleh-criticism. He jumped on a Thursday-night KNBR interview and discussed the defensive coordinator.

"We've got a lot of belief in Robert," Lynch said on the "Tolbert & Lund" show. "Is that blind faith? No. It's faith because we know where he's been in his career. We know what his schemes are, what he's teaching. And the bottom line, and I think Saleh would be the first to tell you, when things aren't getting executed, he'll take it and put it on his shoulders.

"We do believe, and we're going to work through this with him. Players have got to take ownership. All the coaches have to take ownership. When we all start doing the little things better, we'll start translating these into wins and people will get off Saleh's back.

"He's a good football coach. I've got a ton of belief in him, as does Kyle. He understands that you've got to go show that, and he's got an opportunity to do that this week against the Rams and the rest of this season moving forward.

"Robert Saleh's a guy, I'll say it again, we have a lot of trust and belief (in him). Like I talked about earlier, we've got to have his back just like everybody's got to have each other's back on this team and fight through these struggles that we're going through."

49ers express confidence in rookie Ji'Ayir Brown after standout performance

By David Bonilla
Nov 19

The San Francisco 49ers have expressed considerable confidence in rookie safety Ji'Ayir Brown, whose opportunity to showcase his NFL readiness seems to have arrived. Despite being a third-round draft pick in April, Brown has seen limited action, with just 30 defensive snaps under his belt before the Week 11 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Most of his playing time has come on special teams. That changed when Brown stepped in for an injured Talanoa Hufanga in the third quarter. The 49ers fear the worst for their All-Pro safety, believing Hufanga suffered an ACL injury. They will learn more on Monday. It sounds like Brown will pair up with Tashaun Gipson for the remainder of the season. "My heart goes out to Huf," linebacker Fred Warner said after the game.

Why 49ers' Brock Purdy has 'all the confidence in the world' in Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla
Nov 21

Brock Purdy strengthened his chemistry with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk during training camp, after the San Francisco 49ers quarterback returned to practice following offseason surgery on his throwing arm. That quarterback-receiver chemistry has only improved as the season has progressed. On Sunday, Aiyuk caught five passes for a career-high 156 yards and a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was his fourth game of the season with over 100 receiving yards. "He's different from [WR] Deebo [Samuel]. He's different from [TE] George [Kittle]," quarterback Brock Purdy told reporters on Tuesday. "And so, sort of just taking note of that. And then B.A.'s just got length. He's got range. And so I know where he can get to and where I shouldn't throw the ball

Deebo Samuel expresses confidence in 49ers' return to winning ways

By David Bonilla
Nov 24

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel spoke to NFL Network's Omar Ruiz after the team's impressive Thanksgiving win over the division-rival Seattle Seahawks. The 49ers have rebounded nicely from their recent losing streak, securing three consecutive wins since their bye week. One advantage of playing on Thursday night is enjoying the extra time off before returning to the grind on Monday. That's when the team will begin preparing for its NFC Championship Game rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles. Asked about the key to the 49ers' resurgence, Samuel told Ruiz, "Just come out here and play Niner football—fast, physical, and just be on task." San

Kyle Shanahan expresses confidence in Ji'Ayir Brown replacing Talanoa Hufanga for 49ers

By David Bonilla
Nov 20

In the aftermath of Sunday's 27-14 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed Monday morning that his All-Pro safety, Talanoa Hufanga, sustained a torn ACL. That is a significant loss for the defense, but the coaching staff is confident in third-round draft pick Ji'Ayir Brown's ability to fill the void for the remainder of the season. "That's one of the reasons we went for him," Shanahan said via a conference call. "We knew we needed some depth there, and the coolest thing about him ... I think you heard it from guys yesterday, but the way he's been
