49ers to work out Florida State pass rusher Josh Sweat this week

Mar 21, 2018 at 10:49 AM--

The San Francisco 49ers have a workout scheduled with Florida State edge defender Josh Sweat this week, according to Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst.

Florida State held its pro day on Tuesday.

"Sweat clocked anywhere from 6.88s to 6.95s in the 3 cone then looked good in both defensive line and linebacker drills," wrote Pauline. "The linebacker drills were run by the Baltimore Ravens."

The Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets all had coaches on hand to watch Sweat, who will be working out for the San Francisco 49ers later this week."

Sweat registered 41 combined tackles, 11.5 for loss, and seven sacks in 12 games and 10 starts during his sophomore season in 2016. As a junior in 2017, he recorded 56 combined tackles, 12.5 for loss, 5.5 sacks, and three passes defensed. Sweat opted not to play in the Independence Bowl so he could begin preparing for the draft.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6-foot-4 and 251-pound Sweat had a 40-time of 4.53 seconds, a vertical jump of 39.5 inches, a broad jump of 124 inches, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.28 seconds. Other measurables for Sweat include an arm length of 34 5/8 inches and hands that measure 10 1/4 inches.

NFL.com projects Sweat as a second- or third-round draft pick.

49ers rookie Danny Gray did this after dropping a deep pass during practice

By David Bonilla
May 14

Like many NFL players, rookie wide receiver Danny Gray strives for perfection. Unfortunately, no one can be perfect. For a quarterback, it's easy to dwell on that off-target throw. Maybe it's that football that slipped out of your grip for a running back. For a cornerback, that near-interception that bounced off your eager hands. For a wide receiver, it's that big-play throw that you couldn't haul in. That's what happened to Gray on Friday afternoon during the San Francisco 49ers' first practice of a three-day rookie minicamp. While others might try to push the slip-up out of their minds and focus on the next rep. Not Gray. According to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, the rookie wideout fell to the ground and paid penance with 10

The NFL will unveil the league's complete 272-game 2022 schedule on Thursday night at 5:00 p.m. PT. It is common for select week-to-week opponent matchups to leak before the official announcement. I've created this tracker to collect those leaks as the official schedule release time approaches. As usual, the San Francisco 49ers will meet each NFC West team twice. On May 4, the NFL revealed that the 49ers will travel to Mexico City on November 21 to face the Arizona Cardinals at Estadio Azteca—a Week 11 primetime matchup on ESPN's Monday Night Football. The 49ers will face the third-place teams in the NFC East, NFC North, and AFC East. The team is also slated to play the entire NFC South and AFC West. NFL Kickoff Weekend will begin on

Larry Krueger, John Chapman break down 49ers draft picks

By Marc Adams
May 4

There are always plenty of commentaries on a team's draft as soon as the draft is over. For the San Francisco 49ers, as is likely the case for every NFL team, there are multiple great podcasts produced, dozens of articles and stories written, and plenty of people talking about who the team just selected. These days, you can learn just about anything you want about a player, including watching videos of highlights from his collegiate career. I have plenty of people I trust to tell me about the newest 49ers. But Larry Krueger and John Chapman are two
