San Francisco 49ers beat writer Chris Biderman of
USA TODAY Sports and
Niners Wire held a chat with fans via Facebook Live on
our official Facebook page. During the discussion, Biderman gave his thoughts on a myriad of 49ers related topics, including the staff possibilities for Kyle Shanahan, potential targets during free agency, options in the draft, and a lot more.
Biderman also shared his thoughts on the surprising hire of John Lynch as the new 49ers general manager, the front office group that he is trying to build around him, and the differences between him and former general manager Trent Baalke.
Another hot topic was Colin Kaepernick, who Biderman feels needs a change of scenery and believes that the 49ers should move on from the quarterback.
You can watch the entire Facebook Live chat below. Thank you to Biderman for spending the time to answer questions from our fans.

Where 49ers' Trey Lance landed in Chris Simms' QB rankings
Last year, NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms ranked Trey Lance at No. 38 in his top 40 NFL quarterbacks. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback jumped up the ranking in his second year, but not by much. Simms has last year's No. 3 overall pick listed at No. 31 in his 2022 quarterback ranking.
Simms admits it was challenging to figure out where to place Lance within his ranking. Lance only started two games during his rookie campaign and played just 178 snaps. Most expect him to be the 49ers' starter come Week 1. Although, there are certainly those who doubt that will happen.
